Seriously, I remember doing an audio-focuaed tech demo to some basic PM whose favorite band was Imagine Dragons and at the time wondering how much life was left in my career
I’ve been hearing people rip on Imagine Dragons forever but I had no idea what their music sounded like, so I went and did a deep dive on them a couple of years ago. I was like “wait a minute, I’ve heard all of these songs – how is that possible?” Then I realized I’ve heard them all while grocery shopping late at night.
Music like that was actually used in product presentation videos — and still is sometimes. The libraries mentioned on that page sell readymade music for use in films/tv, advertisement or whatever. KPM are the most widely known, I think: there are lots of their music on YouTube, including entire discs.
Famously, ‘Ren and Stimpy’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ use old library music for their soundtracks.
I’m trying to think of which band was the early '80s equivalent of Nickelback. I’d probably say Journey but today’s kids wouldn’t believe it since their reputation has improved recently.
Damn, y’all young
This. That song came out yesterday.

It all started with that stupid stomp-clap phase they had
I’ve got a product demo presentation to give about this time tomorrow. I’m not sure if our soulless corporate music is any better.
I don’t feel old, but I see this old guy in the mirror.
Oh, hello, me.
I made the mistake of preloading classical music. Nobody but nerds and perverts likes Mozart, apparently.
If you can, just play what you like. Expose them to a tiny bit of reality.
Boy, do I have music for you. But, judging by the timestamp, it’s a bit too late.
This is perfect!!

Hey, I’ll still give it a listen tonight after work!
Yeah it’s not like it’s 14 years old or something like that!
I’m so old, I recognize all the jokes about how shitty Imagine Dragons as the jokes about Nickelback.
As a fellow old, I gotta say - actually, yeah.

The fucking Eagles, man!
The band you’re trying to think of is Winger
Nah, Winger was just part of the army of interchangeable hair metal pop bands. I’d say Bon Jovi before I said them.
Kenny G.
This for sure. Referencing Kenny G was a daily occurrence.
Good call, he’s a candidate for sure.
Early journey, before Perry joined, was definitely an interesting era.
Seriously. I installed Win95 on the family machine on high school, and I felt late to the game.
Win 3.11 was working just fine until support started falling off.
I recall it started being a real pain in the ass to run DOS games after that point.
you’re just an unc hehe
Wat
I’m calling you old lol
OK. I already implied I’m old. That’s like me calling you an idiot - it’s not wrong, but it’s already quite evident.
