Disney made Pixar remove a trans character from an upcoming TV series.

They also pulled an episode of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur which had a trans character.

How many gay characters have there been across mainline Disney films? They shoved some token representation into terrible films that weren’t going to be successful anyway (live action Beauty and the Beast and I guess there’s lesbians in Lightyear? As a gay trans man, I can shut Mulan off halfway through and pretend) Make some shitty movies (because why let a queer sully a good movie?), get some notoriety with the backlash, and then say “movies with queers in them don’t sell! Nothing for it!”

These are the same people were throwing fits about teenage girls talking about periods and boys in Turning Red. Maybe it’s time to stop listening to them.

I have a sneaking suspicion Jordan Peterson started the woke Disney accusations with Frozen.

He said it was feminist propaganda because the two main characters didn’t need men and the story didn’t end with a marriage… or something like that? I’m pretty sure that was paraphrased accurately enough.

Clearly whatever seeds he planted there is growing into further conservative paranoia that has people looking for any scrap of evidence that something is “woke.”

What a weird boogeyman to be afraid of.

Just like Alice in Wonderland in 1951, but I suppose the 50s were woke too.

I was deep into the gamergate shit, which luckily I was in highschool and middleschool for so the embarrassment was minimized. But im pretty sure it may have been started by Carl Benjamin (Sargon of Akkad) before Peterson popularized it. I remember him bitching about something about Disney being SJW with something.

I cant point towards anything concrete since I am now an adult meaning its been some years and would rather not look at anything that hentai addicted fascist has to say. No shade towards hentai addicts I just doubt most of y’all crash your router due to having that many tabs of it.

I have never heard of that Benjamin Carl guy, but your probablyright about that.

I’m sure Peterson wasn’t the first to voice a lot of those opinions, and he was just cleaning up other people’s arguments and making them sound academic and credible.

And try not to be too embarrassed about your gamergate phase. We all have periods of our lives we wish we weren’t so cringe. At least yours is useful and can help folks like me who enjoy thinking about sociology and the spread of ideas and information gain new insights! So thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!

      1. Always treat every keyboard as if it’s set on all caps (you never know when your Dorrito-covered fingers might slip)
      2. Never point your rage at something you don’t intend to destroy (eg. woke Disney movies)
      3. Keep your fingers off Enter until you are ready to submit (spellcheck optional)
      4. Know your target and what’s behind it (eg. Soros network)

star wars is just fucking boring? It’s never been particularly good. Though i hear mandalorian was actually good, so contrary to whatever schizo point you’re making here.

You seriously think that people will fall for your vile Gaslighting ? Nope

damn bro, i just don’t know what’s going on lately over at disney. I’m just trying to figure out why we think disney is the anti-christ.

Haven’t even watched a disney movie since like, zootopia.

After some point the thing that keeps the largest media conglomerates going is acquisition, bullying, buying legislation, and the subsequent legalized fraud.

Creatives behind the works are kind of slaves with no freedom to express themselves. They just produce art and fill Disney’s catalog which may or may never be used for the next film.

Disney is that big because of their legacy. They can afford to release low quality garbage (Wish, The Lion King remake, etc) and not suffer from it at all because enough people will buy into it just because its Disney. Their reputation is so unshakable that would take back to back failures and controversies before it would even start to crack.

Some controversies don’t even affect them all too much when looking at movies like love-action Mulan. The general public just doesn’t know of these things

So when Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Sorcerer’s Stone came out, one of the tie-in toys was a vibrating Nimbus 2000, and I thought that was a totally bold move (knowing something about child development)

On one hand our moral guardians also thought it was a bold move, in fact too obvious and too spicy. All the unsold Vibrating N2Ks got recalled, and the ones left suddenly became super pricey on the secondary market.

Years later when I shared this story with my girlfriend, she had raised three daughters and noted versions of the bumble ball vibrates and is meant specifically for experimentation. We just don’t want to market vibrating toys to tweens in the form of a broom you put between your legs. That’s a bit too on the mark.

the irony, in the amount of pro 2a supporters out there, being afraid of liberals owning guns is the funniest shit to me.

I am more of a man than any of these people, and a stronger supporter of the second amendment, than they are, and i dont even like the second amendment lmao.

It might be just observation bias because as a rule I don’t make friends with assholes, but I have never seen a liberal gun owner mishandle their firearm. They seem to understand it’s a weapon and not an extension of their penis.

i have only ever seen people on the political right, incapable of understanding these sorts of concepts fully, and being either, a nuisance, or irresponsible with it.

There are definitely responsible gun owners on the right, ironically, they’re the ones that don’t talk about it on the internet, it’s primarily the ones that DO talk about it on the internet that are irresponsible, so it’s definitely some variant of observation bias, since most of these people probably aren’t being picked up by our means of detection here.

TL;DR probably don’t yap about gun ownership on the internet, it’s probably not a great look for you.
