I havent been on fb for a long time, I mean years, so I didn’t realize it had basically turned into the dumping grounds for the rest of the internet.

It reminds me of an article i read a long time ago about the police branches that have to deal with reviewing csam and the toll it takes on them.

I don’t typically have much sympathy for the police, but anyone who has to look at that stuff and basically get psychological damage in order to convict the people who create it have my respect.

Cassandra might be kinda pitiful to ascribe to ones self, but I feel parts of her story are relatedable regardless of gender. Many people have been in a situation where they are not being believed. At work, with family, whatever it is.

I think it’s hard because the characters are designed to represent an attribute, or symbolize a specific problem. They aren’t really good for representing a person’s whole existence.

They also don’t charge people who blow up abortion clinics with terrorism either. They haven’t since the 60s - 70s.

If you look it up the courts have been petitioned several times to associate abortion clinic bombings with Christian terrorism but they keep refusing to call it what it is.

After reading about that fiasco I have very little faith our government actually has a working definition of terrorism that doesn’t shift at their convenience.

Many of these polls are written in way to ellicit a biased response.

If you ask a question like “do you condemn violence against healthcare CEOs?” A lot of people are going to say yes, because they view themselves as people against violence and respond mostly to that first part.

If you ask "did brian thompson deserve to die for his crimes? Many of the same people will say yes to that too, because people have an innate desire for justice.

Polls do this all the time. It’s part of social engineering and plays on the phenomenon that the Asch Conformity Experiments analyzed. Around 35% of people will change their opinions to fit everyone else’s even if the answer or opinion is very obviously incorrect.

Quest diagnostics wouldn’t let my phlebotomist do the digital part of my bloodwork until I paid my debt to them. She tried everything, and their software locked her out. She was getting quietly furious as she messed with her computer while apologizing to me.

I’ll be thinking about that everytime I need healthcare.

Oh and just so everyone knows, Quest Diagnostics has been in federal court for Medicaid fraud several times and yet their allowed to keep operating. But its definitely “unnecessary care” driving up healthcare costs

I think this is a great thing to see happening. Men are taking birth control into their own hands. Why take the risk of an unwanted pregnancy? Sometimes other methods fail.

Yeah, unfortunately they don’t live very long. I actually don’t keep them anymore because it felt like I was setting myself up for heartbreak after awhile.

I’m happy for the experience though! And that doesn’t surprise me about guinea pigs. A lot if people underestimate the intelligence and needs of small pets.

I’ll take the risk of sounding like Willard here, but rats make delightfully playful and affectionate pets.

It sounds counter intuitive but once your rats(need to have at least two) bond to you they treat you like a giant one of them. They’ll groom you for hours, and you can play chase with them with your hands like you would with a kitten(without the scratches!) They’re like a cat and dog together in a much smaller animal. One of mine played fetch.

I just wish they lived longer and weren’t so prone to cancer. Maybe one day science can fix that.

Maybe if we start a rumor that’s there’s billions of exploitable people on Pluto all the rich CEO’s will race each other there, die like the ones in that shitty submarine and leave us the fuck alone.

Unfortunately in way too many cases judges tend to side with the rapist because they’re relatable… See rapist Brock Allen Turner. That happens A LOT. that’s just the one that was publicized.

I personally know two people this happened to. The person who raped them got a slap on the wrist. One victim was a man, the other a woman. Ask around and I’m sure there are innumerable similar stories just like healthcare denials.

The way birds attack is basically the embodiment of chaos. Grabbing a flapping, sqwaking, incredibly fast and pissed off bird isn’t easy, near impossible. I wanted to snap that roosters neck, and tried to grab his fucking legs as they coming at me. Needed help that day lol

I used to have to catch these bastards and put them in the coop every night. It was my least favorite part of the job. The hens were a delight, loved them. Roosters and geese can fuck off though.

Sure, one might not kill you, but add in a body of water, slick mud, obstacles(things geese and swans are around frequently) ect and someone can definitely get very injured or die because they got knocked over and hit their head or whatever. Plus they’re really goddamn aggressive and that can surprise people.

Exercise caution, and don’t underestimate them my friend.

Ever been attacked by any of those animals? I have. Roosters are the worst. They have these sharp spikes on their legs that draw blood. I’ve kicked a rooster with everything i had because it was spurring me and going for my face. Itd didnt just die, thing kept coming at me. I kicked it several times without holding back and it just kept attacking. Took two people to catch it so i could get in my car. The rooster was fine. I was scratched to hell.

That rooster was small. Now imagine a goose or swan with the same attitude.

I’ve worked many farms and those birds don’t fuck around. If youre so confident by all means fuck around with those birds and find out. I won’t stop you.

Low wage phone workers HAVE been taking the brunt of this shit. It just never mattered to CEOs until now because they never thought theyd be the ones to get the bullet. They probably expected a mass shooting at one if their call centers or something. You know, nothing that hurts them directly.

The worst part is call centers often have policies that say they aren’t allowed to hang up. So they have to sit there and take the abuse. I wonder what the depression and suicide rates are for call center workers…

The point is people are fucking desperate, told to be happy they have a job, and end up in the employment version of an abusive relationship. And like folks in abusive relationships, we should cheer for them to leave while also recognizing it can be quite difficult to do just that.

I’ve been meaning to try yoga, I guess I get intimidated because I’m not as flexible as I used to be. I know yoga is exactly what I need to fix that, but my stupid human brain thinks I’m going to hurt myself or something.
