I’m going to say this every time I have a chance to comment on an article about Kristi Noem. It may be repetitive, but it brings me joy.
I remember 2008 when McCains campaign failed, and in the aftermath it was partially blamed on the failure of the vetting process regarding his running mate. Somehow, the process didn’t reveal that Sarah Palin was dumb as a brick.

It’s not hard at all to imagine what Trump’s instincts suggested to him, but this is going to be such low hanging fruit, and even in the MAGA crowd there’s a limited number of people who want “shoots puppies because farm tough” to be the main thing a candidate is known for. I suppose the base can be herded in the direction their orange god wants, but it seems like a poor use of political capital, even for him.
