Ouroboros can have a little ouroboros, as a treat

Monilla on sanottavaa, kaikilla on vaiettavaa; puhutaan siis, ja ollaan yhtä hiljaa.

  • I could likely forget my name for a moment, if someone suddenly asked it face to face. I have already forgotten an important part of my address, in a situation like that before. If I am asked directly about something, there is a very high chance, I will immediately forget everything about it, as I panic invisibly. (And yes, it is autism with me.)

  • Oh, I hope they make breakthroughs with the “in ovo” system, that sounds really promising.

And good tips for the oat milks and cheese! I usually just buy one cheap store brand, that is made here in Finland, since I like the really bland taste of it, lol. The least chemically tasting I have found! I also have one vegan cheese I like, but it too, is sold only locally…

  • Could be - but that would also mean taking milk away from the calves for a while. Not sure how much milk a cow would be able to continue to give and what the quality would be after the calf has had enough to outgrow infancy.

This is doable, especially with the cows, that have been bred to produce milk. You do not even need to separate the mom and calf, for more than a moment, to milk, so we do know it is possible. You just get less milk, than by taking the calf away, so it is not profitable in comparison. There are other problems though, like they should be able to feed mostly by pasture grazing, which takes a lot of land, and if you do not kill some of the cows and bulls for food, you will have way too many… etc.

And with eggs - yes. The EU standards for “bio” eggs are already better (very far from perfect though), so it might be possible to do profitably even. A big ethical problem with factory farming chickens right now, though, is the process of mass producing the egg-laying chickens themselves. Hens are kept, but the male chicks might be just thrown into a shredder. Even if all of them were raised, a lot of the cocks would have to be killed, since there would be carnage otherwise, as you cannot keep them together, and you have to have multiple hens more than cocks in a flock. This also applies if you keep chickens in your backyard, so there are always excess cocks being given away, that nobody wants, and many end up as food.

  • That ethical problem could be solved (well, not if you are “fully” vegan, and view even keeping pets and livestock, unacceptable), by doing good small-scale production. Factory farming producing the inhuman conditions, is needed to make the operations economically sustainable, in the way it is build into capitalist systems. But if you would keep the cows well, milk products could be made quite ethically… Now of course the costs needed to do that would make milk extremely expensive, and small-scale could not replace the massive demand, so people would have to consume way less anyway.

  • It is even worse, since LLMs talk back like that, which probably encourages people to be like that. I had to use one to solve a Linux problem, for which I could not get help any other way, and it was just awful. I do not want the agent to spout useless phrases like a human, it just wastes so much time to read them, when you have to figure out are the answers even close to being useful. Maybe I could have prompted it to just reply more efficiently, but I tried to keep the usage minimal anyway. That discussion made me sound more like the robot. “Blahblah not working” “Oh I’m so sorry you are having this problem. Lets start with…”
    Fucking awful.

  • Believing in some deity is also ok, people can have their thoughts, as long as it does not harm others. A lot of people believing in some form of god, get solace out of it, so if it is, what they need to get by in this shitty world, good for them. Not all delusions are harmful.
What is not ok, is taking part in and enabling evil religious systems, and using those beliefs as an excuse for hatred, discrimination, oppression and even war. The religious folks following the actual teachings of their religions is usually fine, as those tend to be pretty good (help others, love everyone and do not hate, etc.). Also a drastic contrast to the other, fundamentalist sides doing the opposite, cherrypicking what suits them out of the beliefs, and pretending their religion justifies their evil actions.

(And I am an atheist myself, if that matters, for the context.)

  • Are you okay? Honestly I do not understand, what you are saying there. Nazi pushing nazi propaganda, and then getting their ass kicked for it, is completely different, from someone making bland comics about popular issues, even if they are using unethical means of pushing those. Like, in what way are these things connected as a metaphora? And how does that relate, to the subject of my earlier comment pointing out, that it is okay to support things, people are not experiencing themselves?
