(it’s a training dagger for a friend who does medieval swordfighting stuff, though it’s also got a good magic wand energy to it)

turned out pretty nice
hehe
First thought was that looks like it would be great for poking someone with. Then read the text!
Awesome! How long did it take, and will there be any finish applied?
I also appreciate the printout used as a guide.
About 90mins to go from the blank to the thing in my hands, I’m a very inexperienced turner so don’t quite have the techniques down for doing it quickly yet
Gonna probably just wax it for a comfortable hand experience and to bring the grain out
How scary is the CHUNKACHUNKA at the beginning when you’re knocking the corners off? I’ve watched some videos and it sounds concerning!
On this diameter (the blank started about 50mm) and with the corners already taken off on the table saw, it’s absolutely fine - with a sharp chisel you’re through the chunkachunka in a few seconds
Very cool. Thank you!
That doesn’t sound too bad really. It sure turned out good, and thanks for sharing!

Hey you wanna make handle more oval or egg shaped so it doesn’t rotate in the hand.
Yeah I thought that but apparently these are usually just cylindrical, didn’t wanna second guess the guy with all the swords 🤣
It’s a Rondel trainer. Your friend trains in HEMA!

If you want to see some of the manuals they train from
Correct! I knew it had a name
Fair enough lol. Just keep it in mind in case you wanna make more.
