I love it but is that really the title? The last thing it’s giving me is forest temple.
What, there are no sandstone forests where you’re from? /s
Maybe it used to be a forest, started drying out and they kept building up the temple to appease the forest gods.
There’s precedent of that, too. The Nazca lines were built when the Nazca desert was getting dryer, and the civilization there dedicated themselves to the study of the constellations they used to predict seasons.
I may be reaching, or maybe that sort of discussion is exactly what the artist intended - in which case, kudos.
