Everybody knows fur is a Deep State psyop, this image is clearly fake. Nice try, the Government!

Maybe I’m just getting paranoid about it. First time I see their fur unaligned, and the rest of the picture is so smooth…

If not AI I guess it just hopped out of the water and the care giver made their hair before taking the picture.

the video i took this frame from was probably re-encoded a few times till it found me…i assume maybe someone upscaled/smoothed it at some point to remove increasing re-encoding artifacts

I went through this scenario reading that piece on new ways of calculating pi. Did you see that? Pretty cool nerd fact.

I don’t really care about PI, and I think I saw this one last year (and kinda forgot about it).

But the fact is still interesting, the article show the equation and how it related to another one with depth while still being comprehensible.

        Nerd snipped, thanks!

Same with the AI thing – my poor brain is so primed to see it. The little dude looks so strange here though lmao

I think there was another image, maybe a political cartoon, where a dude had like six fingers and another had a cut-off leg (misdrawn, not amputated). It even had a color pallate close to the standard AI comic scheme. It came from way before generative AI, though.

He kinda threw me off at first, but I’ve grown to enjoy his aggressive style of education. It feels like all I’ve really needed is someone yelling “You’re a fucking dumbass, and so am I, so let’s learn some shit together so we can burn it all the fuck down”.

If you are here asking: “Is this a science meme?”

Probably, yes. We use the Dawkins definition of meme: a replicating idea, not just an image macro with a fact on it. A good post here doesn’t need to teach you something. It needs to make you ask something: who, what, where, when, and especially why or how.

Science isn’t a filing cabinet of facts, it’s a conversation. For example, a photo of an eel or other localized wildlife counts because most people never see one, and wonder is the first step of inquiry. A car meme counts if it makes you curious about what’s under the bonnet. If you want to talk about something you noticed in the world, chances are someone else wants to talk about it too.

We moderate for vibe, not category. Pruning is light, especially where a post creates interesting discussion. Experimenting is encouraged.

See the pinned paper on Shitposting as Public Pedagogy if you want the academic case for why this works.
