How many more times is this going to have to happen before voters in Europe wake the hell up and realize their countries and their way of life are under attack, and the current people in charge are at best doing nothing about it, or worse encouraging it.

I think this is the reason he wanted to do it. He was ex-muslim, anti-islam activist who felt germany isn’t doing enough curb the spread of islam. He was also pro afd and held anti-immigrant sentiments.

Although the authorities says the motive was unclear, it seems to me that he wanted people to see “a saudi citizen attacks Christmas market” so german people see it as an attack on christian values by a foreign citizen.

Election happening soon Got radicalized by far right Tried to portray “immigrants bad” and “immigrants attacking german culture”

He was anti-islam, pro afd and anti-immigrant

He is but he hated other immigrants more for being muslim. If you look at his twitter bio, he blames germany for “islamization of europe”. So doing a terrorist attack just before german election, he probably wanted an anti-immigrant (which islamophobes often hide behind) party to gain support. And that is exactly what happened, AfD were some of the first ones to call out the attack as “enough is enough”.

He is. A Saudi immigrant, moved to Germany in 2006. And we don’t know about his motive yet, so people might do themselves a solid by not talking out their ass about things they don’t know for sure yet.

Yeah its crazy. But at the same time this isn’t the first time a right wing nut job tried to do something like this. Lately there has been a general increase in far-right sickos taking it out on either jews or muslims.

This attack looks to me as an attempt to antagonize muslims in the eyes of christians. And especially the timing of the attack (just before the German election) imo shows that he planned to do it in advance.

Hopefully, more things will uncover as time passes by because the guy was an absolute idiot. I just hope this doesn’t affect the election results too much cuz otherwise he would win in his motives.

Islam needs to be deradicalized now, it’s such a well known problem how many radical preachers there are in mosques in Europe

I live in the Baptist south and feel exactly the same way about churches… Get some perspective, drop the bigotry.

The article didn’t but for context german elections are happening in a couple months. I think the perpetrator wanted to portray immigrants as bad or that immigrants are attacking german values/culture.

The attacker was an ex-muslim, pro afd and anti-islam, and anti-immigrant activist.

In many ways, he was similar to the person you replied to.

Edit: you know whats funny? If this attacker was pro islam, you would see it in the headline

At the time I wrote it it was just known that he was from Saudi Arabia, and I assumed (maybe wrongly) that he was an Islamist.

I stand by my comment because most of these types of terror attacks have been carried out by Islamists over the years 🤷‍♂️ and because governments and even Muslims themselves acknowledge radical preachers, funded by foreign states or militias, are a big problem.

It’s tough to deradicalize religion. Almost all of the various holy books advocate for violence in various ways.

And none of them are internally consistent. People choose which parts to give priority to.

You could watch Star Wars and come away thinking fascism is a great way to bring about order as long as there are no meddling space wizards, but that’s not the point of it.

Are you George Lucas? Can you read George Lucas’ mind? Exactly, so don’t pretend you know what the point of Star Wars is. For the record, it is about lasers pew pew pew pewwww

But the religions aren’t just determined by their books, but by how they are organized and practiced… Judaism has some insane schools, but no religion causes as much violence, harm and suppression as Islam.
