I’m working through Star Trek, watched TNG and DS9 and on Voyager now. I’ve always been aware of it but somehow never realized how good it is! Which is nice because now I feel like I discovered a treasure trove, there are so many shows and movies.

I’ve literally just started watching this tonight. Seems interesting so far, curious to see what they do with it.

I’ve really been digging this one. I was hoping they’d show what’s going on outside, but I’ve been really pleasantly surprised otherwise. And of course it’s way way too tempting to spoil it by looking up the books’ synopses.

Sure are. Mixed feelings about it, I think one of the reasons it’s so good is because they didn’t have a chance to milk it to death like the Simpsons

First 4 seasons before the initial cancelation are gold.

I’ve yet to finish all the ones that came after the cancelation but there’s definitely good stuff there too.

They’re good, IMO. Season 5 is a bit different, but 6 and 7 feel familiar. They do a lot of parodies of other media. And if I remember right, the end of season 7 competes with some of the classic best episodes. Definitely worth the watch.

Just watched Star Trek The Next Generation for the first time! Loved most of it…though it has some middling and really bad moments. About to watch all the TNG movies next!

I watched the pilot episode…it was hard going from HD TNG to SD DS9. Maybe some time off and I’ll come back to it and not notice the quality difference!

For both series, the first 2 seasons are kinda rough. Once they figured out what worked they really start to shine from S3 onward. Personally I hated the whole Bajoran arc on early DS9.

How come nobody ever told me Battlestar Galactica was so good? I’m on season 2. I love the stories I really love the casting choices (where did they find the actress for Starbuck she’s perfect) but one thing I could do without is the cinematography. Woof

Mr. Robot. I didn’t realize that they had added two more seasons since I last watched it. It’s been a great watch with all the big internet shifts lately.

Woah that’s crazy! A while back I watched every single task master I could find on youtube. I liked it up until the last couple seasons where I felt it became too scripted… I’ve never met someone else who’s seen it

Same here. Honestly the first close to 10 seasons were amazing, but I think they started to run out of really great comedians, and like you mentioned the spontaneity that made it so amazing when it was new started to cannibalize itself with new contestants playing things up to match a comedy formula.

I guess all comedians try to be funny, but the latest series struck me as much less genuine and fun.

Such a good show. Very rare for a show to have a really good solid 8 seasons, you usually start to see a decline in quality after season 4.

Season 9 was a spinoff and doesn’t count. You will never convince me otherwise!

So much rewatchability in one show, when I binged it the first time people caught me looking into the distance mid-conversation.

Expanse may be the best show I’ve ever seen. Might be time for a 3rd rewatch.

I was really enjoying The Last Kingdom, but just kind of stopped… Don’t even remember why.

The Expanse is probably my favorite; certainly one of my top 5. Like every fan, I recommend reading the books. They moved their subreddit to Mastodon.

TLK can get a little repetitive and characters make obviousy bad decisions, but when you get to the end, the story comes together as a whole. Overall, its a good show.

Did the expanse get cancelled or am I misremembering that? I loved it, but once I heard it wasn’t getting renewed I just forgot about it to save myself the trauma.

It got dropped by Syfy after three seasons and picked up again by Amazon for a further three seasons. Bezos was apparently a fan. They didn’t renew it after that, but it ended in a decent place, closing out a lot of the plot lines while leaving the door open for more. There’s some stuff setting up future plot threads that they don’t get to address, but it mostly won’t leave you hanging. It’s well worth finishing.

I won’t spoil anything, but adapting the final trilogy would involve some difficult changes and be very expensive, so I suppose it’s understandable that they didn’t keep it going, as much as that sucks. Maybe one day. There’s comics and a Telltale game coming out, so there’s still life in it yet. And you can always read the books.
