Aha, there you go. I don’t think anyone should put their feet on the seat, but I also wouldn’t alert the police about this.

I can tell why he seemed to leave that bit out of the story. His story is a lot less sympathetic if you frame it as:

“I was sitting on the train and had my feet up on a seat. I refused to take my feet off the seat, so she complained to the conductor. Then ??? and I was getting arrested.”

People with their feet on the seats really bothers me. It’s extra crass if the train was full and he wouldn’t move his feet, but I am not sure if this was a packed car or not. Either way, it’s disrespectful to have your feet on the seat in public transit, and I’d be curious what his exact language was when refusing. Definitely not an arrest-able offense, but this guy sounds like a jerk. I hope we get to see bodycams at one point.

What is your source for this? Even the quote from above says “how” he was sitting, not “where”. Did someone else have better coverage?

How does one sit “offensively” on a train? All the coverage of this seems to just skip over that. Was he sitting with no pants? Laying across 3 seats? This is a novel one for me.

That’s next level where just quoting Charie verbatim is enough to lose your job!

The openness of Android is the thing that kept me on the platform. Now that the openness is being removed, iOS is now more appealing.

Sadly, I think most of the customers that use Android never sideload a single app at all. I don’t expect this to create a mass exodus, but a smaller one with power users.

This will only be effective so long because gradually apps will require greater and greater API levels. Staying stuck in the past is, at best, a temporary solution.

There are two types of gamers:

Some see an open world sandbox and say “Wow, I can do anything!” and pick their own goals.

The other type says “WHAT it’s pointless!” and wants some kind of arrow pointing at the next objective.

YOU might think they are well defined terms, but there are people claiming with a straight face that “race X can’t be racist, because racism needs power structures” or all this other exceptionalism. They use every definition but the one in the dictionary.

A big problem here is that not everyone has a common definition for racism and sexism. Some definitions take existing power structures and historical context, and others don’t. A discussion about this topic should be started with what specifically each participant believes these terms mean. Otherwise you have two people talking about “sexism” but they are just talking past each other because they lack a shared understanding of the term as it is used.

If you were to say “black people are bad” then the rebuttal typically becomes “due to established power structures, white men can’t be oppressed, therefore I can say what I want about them”.

I think it’s hard to have a reasoned discussion where you say “all men do X” because for every X, there’s probably a bunch of exceptions. There is a great amount of variance in male behavior.
