I believe some of that is because TikTok doesn’t allow certain words / subjects (like suicide), and so people have to make up / use other words to try to avoid having their posts removed. At least that’s what I heard regarding the origin of “unaliving”…
There’s a lot of denial where I live too. The very popular conservative right-wing party has gone from comically absurd denial to “sure, it’s real, but it’s not that bad, and in any case the important thing is to not waste any money so we must think long and hard about what to do about it” (meaning they will do nothing and defend it as being “financially healthy politics” or some bullshit like that).
Many other politicians (center/left) seem to have shifted their talking points from “we must do something about it” to “we must adapt to the climate changes” (in other words, between the lines they say “there’s nothing we can do about it, except learn to live with it”). Only the green party still tries, but they’re not very big.

My memory wasn’t entirely correct. Sounds like running started as a coping mechanism, not to lose weight.
If I remember correctly, he has talked about how he used to be overweight and out of shape. When he started running to get healthier people (kids probably) would point at him and laugh. But he persevered and now he runs a lot, eats oatmeal every morning, etc.

The same with podcasts, especially geolocated ads or what they’re called. Here in Norway I always get the same fucking ads on every damn podcast, and they are horrible, like getting raped in the ears. At least I learn which companies to avoid…

One of my favorites I read was the trilogy which starts with The Three-body Problem. Mind boggling stuff, and page turners, but not perfect.
I also read a lot of Stephen King, and the award for the best book I read in 2025 has to go to The Green Mile. It’s one of King’s best, and one I have great memories of reading when it came out.
Yeah, that’s actually also why it’s no longer considered best practice to force regular password changes. But many places / websites /apps still do, obviously.

A similar but also opposite experience in many ways: I vividly remember me and a friend (teenage boys, mid 90s) waiting for a picture of a naked lady on some website, slowly loading line by line. Took forever. Finally it failed when it got to her chest, just above the boobs we wanted to see 😢
