My journey as well. Paid for LastPass (bought 10 years for $20) and changed when they went too much shit.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Disney+ changes subscriber agreement to allow ads on every planEnglish
2·19 days agoGuess it depends on what you have on your server. Streaming a Blu-ray movie in full quality to your phone might not be the most desirable thing to do… so you can watch the full “non-compressed” movie at home on the big screen and have a smaller version served to your phone.

Linux@lemmy.ml•[brag + followup] configured and compiled a kernel for the first time ever 🛠️
1·22 days ago“So much faster by removing things I don’t need,” I claimed
I never really got to use FreeBSD but I thought that I would, late ‘90s. Found out how to modify and build the kernel. And like you, optimised it by removing stuff i didn’t need, like parallel port drivers. And then let the system compile for hours. So green back then and so used to Windows.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Debian Votes To Allow "Responsible Use Of Generative AI"
31·1 month agoWhen people do code review off a pull request and sees it’s slop, it will go back to the developer to fix it. I guess if a person submit too much slop, they will get banned or something similar.
However, I don’t know the Debian process to have new code submitted, but would guess that it have to be more than one person to go from code to build a package.
Can’t we just build it into systemd?
I probably don’t mess around my system too much and don’t install too many things outside Debian repositories to make issues with the upgrades.
Debian can take a week to upgrade? Apparently I’m yolo’ing it and just the upgrade. However I have just done one major update, so u might just be lucky

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Want to stop paying monthly for music streaming, what options are out there?
2·2 months agoMy best smart playlist I had in iTunes was the one that included the top 50 of all my music with 3 stars or more (one star was not music, two stars was music I would never listen to randomly, and anything above would be actual music rating), sorted by fewest plays. I would then put that playlist on random, so music I haven’t heard a lot, like newly added music, would be in heavy rotation in the start until the play count started to match my other music.

Linux@lemmy.ml•General resolution: LLM usage in Debian: First call for votes: corrected ballot
3·2 months agoI would say it’s okay with more than yes/no. You could say yes, but only if code review by human. The difference is that if you can only say yes or no, you would have to say yes, but then don’t know if the details of the final rules of AI in the project would actually be a dealbreaker for you. However, these options are a little too much.
I think Google got tired of having to defend itself from lawsuits about Google copying and displaying the contents of web sites and not sending people to these web sites.
Also building an independent search index together with Qwant - already serving the French and German users. In their way to to drop Google and Bing

2·2 months agoIt’s been a while since I ran out of battery, so that probably makes it more relaxing for me. Also, I like that the screen is as simple as possible.
I make sure my phone has enough charge for whatever I’m doing or on rare/special occasions have a power bank with me.
