Of course that’s possible, but it wouldn’t be free. At some point, the person would need to be validated and assigned a private key that’s tied to their identity. That’s the hard part, the time consuming step. And the more automated it is, the easier it would be to spoof and lie.
Our choices suck. I agree, and we should work to fix that.
But we have a system for fixing it, and we need to fix the sytem to fix anything else. The system is run by two parties.
We can try to fix the system by fixing one of the two main parties, but then that party has to win or all of our hard work is meaningless.
We can try to fix the system by supporting a third party, but the system prevents third parties from being competitive, so we need to fix the system before this is a viable option. This option includes violent solutions, where by we overthrow the government by force. This is, in a way, supporting a third party, and in the same way it is completely unrealistic. You’re not going to take down the US government with the firearms they let you buy.
We can try to fix the system by appealing to all voters that both parties need to be fixed. The problem there is that one of the parties is only viable because the system is broken. It is the party of corruption. You cannot appeal to that party’s sense of duty or propriety, because it explicitly opposes those concepts on principle.
So we’re left with three imperfect solutions to a difficult problem. A fourth option is to give up and fuck off. But that’s not so much a solution as a concession.
Of the three, only one of them seems actually viable. None are guaranteed to succeed, but at least one could conceivably be successful. The other two are doomed by design. Especially during the election season, when it’s too late to enact meaningful change to the structure of the elections.
The debt is because we allow oligarchs to write the budget. They line their pockets, and then borrow money to pay for necessary services. It’s a ponzi scheme that leaves our children holding the bag, which is why they are hoarding wealth and desperate to eliminate all inheritance taxes.
Both sides are corrupt.
One side is corrupt despite the well-intentioned support of principled people.
The other is corrupt by design, enabled by the narcissistic support of bigots and sycophants.
The former might do the best thing for the country.
The latter will always do the best thing for their own self-interest.
None of our leaders or representatives should be expected to resist corruption. That’s why we need checks and balances against corruption, and we as voters need to hold those representatives accountable.
The problem is validating someone’s review without revealing who wrote it. Reviewers can be pressured or paid to lie if they are not anonymous, but anyone can leave any review if they are anonymous.
Feels like Louisiana is vying to be first hit in whatever apocalypse is next. Like, they got a bunch of endorphins from the Katrina attention, and they’re just chasing that high.
People who don’t mind making the world a little bit worse for literally everyone else if it saves them some small amount of effort are the real monsters, because they think they’re not.

If the grocery store didn’t have to spend money putting carts away, the same person could be working inside the store where it’s warm and dry. Shitty people are preventing everyone else from better service and/or lower prices.

Literally every company would be review-bombed, because as soon as Company X gets a few bad reviews, they will bomb Competitor Y, and it snowballs from there. The best companies will be the ones that have the most employees paid to post reviews.

If your definition of “destitute” is having to work for a paycheck, you and I are not on the same page.
I do make maximum contributions, but I also have two kids with college funds and a mortgage that I’m paying down. We’re comfortable, and I consider myself extremely fortunate for the life I’ve built for myself.
Unfortunately, it took me a while to pay off college debts, and then the 2008 crash wiped out a lot of our savings. I don’t expect to ever have enough saved to actually retire.
Max contributions to a ROTH IRA is $7,000. Most people don’t have an extra $7,000 lying around. If you do, chances are you’re already in the top 10%.
This is apt, because I know people who earn six figures but work 60 hours a week and are living paycheck to paycheck. They’re not poor, but they’re not rich.
If you give up and don’t vote, then all corruption wins.
