i’ve found one that’s called “italian design pumba” and its “intelligent obstacle evasion” is just bumper sensors. there don’t appear to be any cameras, infrared, lidar, phone apps, etc., which is exactly what i’m looking for!

you might have some luck looking for older brands/models along those lines from second-hand shops and refurbished resellers. they’re way cheaper too, as a nice bonus

While the opt-out of sale request should last indefinitely, California’s privacy law still allows companies to collect information without asking for permission first in most cases. That means data brokers are likely to continue to collect information for profiles of you—but they will will have less data and be limited in how they use it after an opt-out request. New data brokers may also register with the state after you file your request. And DROP won’t stop companies who aren’t registered data brokers, like Google, from collecting and sharing your personal information.

“naturally settling at the bottom” is also what happens to new comments, or neutral comments that just don’t provide much information. that’s not on the same par as someone who’s spreading misinformation, or hate speech.

and yes, the report button can potentially get that comment removed, but that depends on moderators agreeing with the report, being active, being in a similar time zone, etc.

downvoting harms no one but can help by pushing harmful comments out of sight & below the neutral / new comments.

i disagree that “least upvotes” would serve the same function as downvoting. there’s a bias towards older & more popular comments, especially if people sort comments that way.

a comment with almost no upvotes because that person commented after the main engagement buzz passed, is functionally different to someone spouting harmful rhetoric & getting downvoted for it, for example

t. gondii is one of the most common parasitic infections in humans, not the most common human disease.

there are typically no symptoms, but when the symptoms do show up in humans, they’re along the lines of swollen lymph nodes.

there’s no credible evidence of it resulting in humans changing their behaviour towards cats, which makes sense, since we’re a biological dead-end for toxoplasmosis. there’d be no benefit for the parasite to change our behaviour.

it’s never a bad idea to try growing your own food. i’ve been able to add a lot more fresh veggies to my diet even with “container gardening” in a rented apartment & a balcony.

if you’ve got your own house & a garden, plant as many native trees as you can. some of these can provide free food too ofc, but also, trees are great for shade & staying cool during heatwaves, they’re great for flood prevention, they hold the soil together & prevent soil creep, etc etc.

so yeah, i suppose climate change & access to food are my main concerns. we can live without a lot of today’s tech, but we can’t live without edible food, clean water, and breathable air. 😅

the situations you’re describing are all part of patriarchy. women didn’t make those laws, men make up an overwhelming majority of today’s governments and when those laws were first made, women likely weren’t allowed to vote, let alone form any part of government.

women didn’t create these media tropes either, the narrative of “men big and strong and always ready for sex, women small and weak and can’t possibly harm men” is a patriarchal one.

good! hopefully this will discourage everyone who bought them from using them, so they just sit in a drawer somewhere or get recycled instead of spying on unwitting people, and meta will fail to make back the huge amounts of money they’ve invested in tech that most people don’t want 😌

i recommend trying to read books made for children or adult learners as soon as possible, because it’s a great way to pick up vocabulary. that can absolutely be started at A2 level, although you’ll need to look up words for context fairly regularly.

B1 level is generally when learners can start reading YA-level novels without stopping too often to look things up, because their vocabularies will be good enough that they can start to infer things from context.

B2 would be about the level for a lee child / agatha christie novel, although specific terminology, less common grammatical structures, or dialectical speech will still likely throw you for a loop until you encounter them more often.

i believe C1 is when learners are getting closer to that native-like fluency with reading comprehension etc, but i’ll let you know when i get there! :P
