Linux@lemmy.ml•Arch Linux AUR Malware Campaign Hits Multiple User-Contributed Packages
1·1 day agoYou can’t just ship a binary to a random location without knowing architecture, which is very relevant. Not everything is x86 any more. But you can do shell, and since aur is shell that should be good enough given the context of the article.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How would you undermine open source software?
36·2 days agoSpam poor quality llm commits from sockpuppet accounts to a bunch of popular projects. Sprinkle in some subtly-buggy contributions from more established accounts. The buggy contributions should not be obviously malicious (not, like, obfuscated credit stealers – they should just break things). Do this to as many projects as you can without making it super obvious. Prefer projects with few maintainers but a high merge rate. Then, go think about what you did, you bastard.

I’ve seen lots of adverts for Mullvad though. Conflicted.

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Aging Millennial Humor [Sarah Scribbles]
2·23 days agoI hadn’t thought about Canada at all, nor about how indigenous people in North America / Australia wouldn’t necessarily have been included in historical literacy rates – instead I’d glibly taken the literacy rates of the largest countries that ostensibly ‘spoke English’ at face value, and you make a compelling point. All very interesting, thanks

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Aging Millennial Humor [Sarah Scribbles]
4·24 days agoJeez, what country are you talking about with that level of literacy up until 1950? India?
It’ll be her. She’s very dark skinned, extremely striking, and definitely had a role in at least one Bond film
Is agnetic a typo? I don’t known that word.

3·2 months agoMisleading with statistics can certainly be done in some contexts, but it’s harder to do that than it is to be wrong with just ‘I have a gut feel bro’. The breakdown by income quartile here is, like, directly the narrative that the stats are intended to support and clearly a larger impact that immigration because… Well… Quartiles are quite big…
It takes a long bloody time to build up topsoil. Ex-tundra will shit for agriculture for decades at best and centuries without borderline terraforming
