Centrists will blend quietly into the right the way that Homer backs his way into a hedge.
To be fair, consider the expansive global industry required to enjoy coffee. The supply chains for steak, fugu, and alcohol don’t really compare. The fact that just about anyone in the global north can enjoy a coffee at any time of day for a few bucks really is a luxurious privilege.
Willing to bet uBlock Origin will make it so I never see a single one of these ads.
Firefox forever.
Honestly I’m fairly certain they infight even harder than the left does. They just wouldn’t self-critically admit to it like we would. Cause they don’t self-crit.
Are we talking about actual leftist infighting, or mistaking liberals for the left and calling it infighting?
Also I’m almost certain that the actual left infights far less than the right. The only reason two Trump administrations hasn’t started the literal fourth reich yet is because they infight so hard that they can’t stick to any plan.
It’s very nearly a synonym for value extraction. I guess specifically it refers to the consequences of value extraction on the web, but really I think Doctorow’s whole goal with that campaign was to make people aware of how awful venture capital and value extraction really are for us. I’m less concerned with preserving a canonical definition of enshittification as I am getting people aware of the consequences of capitalist financialization. As a well-published author himself, I’m sure Doctorow is well prepared for figurative death of the author :P
Good job, France. Now do Roman Polanski.
The richest people, yes certainly. But they didn’t get rich merely by not tipping, and the moron who wrote the tweet is certainly not that level of wealthy. I’m just talking about 99% of people, the working class.
Or a mentally troubled patient. Or a black patient. Or a woman.
Should justice be served, the irony is that this man will end up paying for 100 brand new books on civil rights and LGBT topics.
Oh wait… Ohio? Nevermind, not holding my breath…
This is how a greedy person thinks. It’s morbid, but fascinating.
I am not in a financial race against the people who do not tip. And if this guy thinks I am then he failed to factor in that people pleasers probably go a lot further socially in life and thus are likely to make more money. Maybe I tip not because I want to please, but because I have more expendable income than the average self-limiting greedy asshole.
I too still have the cracked installers for CS5 and CS6 but… I switched to Gimp and Krita a very long time ago.
I remember doing an animation internship on the pilot of a TV show most here have heard of (Not gonna dox myself) and CS5 was definitely available at the time, but the studio was still using Flash MX because that was the last version available that Adobe hadn’t fuckin wrecked.
Esperanto for Lemmy lingua franca! Err… I mean… Lingua esperanta!
How about you work on the blanket ban on fossil fuels / specific software computation, and I work on the low-hanging regulation that addresses two pressing issues in one go. Whoever finishes first promises to jump over and help the other finish their goal. That way we can avoid perfection being an enemy of good, while also striving toward perfection.
We’re the boomers, now.
One of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions are disused or decommissioned natural gas wells, which continue to leach methane into the atmosphere after being abandoned. Crypto mining has the potential to incentivize the decimation of these greenhouse outputs by using that methane to generate their power, outputting water and the much less harmful carbon dioxide as combustion product instead. But as mining is a profitability game, they won’t do that if there are cheaper and readily-available power sources to tap into. That’s why it’s crucially important for regulators to get smart about this: setting up rules that prohibit crypto mining on public power sources, identifying sites in need of pollution management, possibly incentivizing miners willing work within a framework where they can capture and utilize that pollution and show their work.
It’s trading at like $105K today.
And why were they homeless?
