  • Lots of people are swimming in a sea of American media. American personalities, American stories, American cultural touchstones. This effect is taken to extremes in the extremely online right, as there is a sort of transnational fascism emanating from there. This is why you get people who think Miranda rights are a thing in Canada, or the various amendments to the US Constitution apply. It’s also why we need to defend Canadian media. For better or worse, many people’s knowledge of the world around them comes from the media they consume. And an unfortunate number of Canadians are spiritually American as a result. [Edit] Not that I think these concerns on their own signify much, but taken as a whole with his other beliefs definitely paints a picture of the sort of granola fascist that supports RFK jr.

“It really affected me personally because I have anxiety issues and not seeing faces really affected me,” he said.

Oh my fucking god, dude. None of us loved doing that. I’m sure the people with long covid are feeling pretty affected now, and the people who died might also have some opinions for you if they were still able to do things like have opinions.

“Even if we don’t separate, I mean, we ought to talk about this stuff, you know? People don’t want to talk about it.”

Yeah, you’re almost getting it. We want to talk and think about it so little you lost your business over it. Not that you’re learning any lessons from that.
