  • …my stats professor is a programmer, though. Are you not talking about high level statistics courses? A lot has changed since R and Rstudio has been developed. (It’s FOSS!). All of my assignments are either proofs in LaTeX or questions that involve programming.

( If you’re in a stats course and using excel, you are learning stats for babies. Your class has business majors in it.)

  • Drag doesn’t like you

Alright Drag, that’s fine. I usually respect what you have to say that’s why I took the time to type all that out. I’ll stay out of your replies in the future.

I’m just going to point out the criteria is “maladaptive” not being a Karen sometimes, so I don’t agree with your ratings. Being a pain in the ass sometimes isn’t the same as having something so wrong with your personality that you need a pathological label.

It sounds like you are being the thought police

I’m pointing out a word people have used for thousands of years to reference antisocial behavior really shouldn’t be called ableism, because when you do that, you weaken the word ableism. That’s hardly thought policing.

  • Taking words away from people that they use to describe their abusers (narcissist, psychopath) is going to hurt people who don’t deserve it (schizophrenia, etc) when you lump it all together as abelism. That’s my point.

In my opinion, they did put abuser disorder in the DSM. Here’s the diagnosis criterion for NPD (need 5/9, must be maladaptive) Notice how its just the description of an emotionally abusive person, when you need 5 and its gotta be bad enough to affect your life?

A grandiose sense of self-importance (exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

Believing that they are “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

    Requiring excessive admiration

A sense of entitlement (unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with their expectations)

Being interpersonally exploitative (taking advantage of others to achieve their own ends)

Lacking empathy (unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others)

Often being envious of others or believing that others are envious of them

Showing arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

This is from Wikipedia, btw, I dont own the manual and cant find it online. DSM is just a guide to help psychiatrists give treatment to people who need help, not a list of descriptors you can no longer use.

  • Drag, I get where you’re coming from, but don’t you think those three groups are different?

Schizo? Schizo ppl are harmless and don’t deserve to have something fundamental to their mental state used as an insult. I completely agree with you here.

Narcissist? This wasn’t always a diagnosis and doesn’t always refer to one. I don’t see anything wrong with using this as an insult. Defending it under ableism kinda feels like calling the word “abuser” abelist - sure, abusive people probably also struggle with mental health.

Psychopath? That’s also pretty hard to defend.

Honesty I think you’d be better off pointing out how these people aren’t mentally ill and are fully culpable for what they do, instead of labeling it all abelist.

The word Schizo definetly doesn’t belong here, that is abelist. Peterson isn’t schizo he’s a close minded misandrist.

  • I think this picture is a joke, however, some people have a sneezing kink. I am sorry to deliver this information.

In highschool my friends and I challenged each other to find the worst fanfictions we could possibly unearth.

Harry Potter sneezefic took 2nd place (looking back, it was about children… gross! but we were kids, and this was probably written by a kid? Life is mysterious.)

  • women lawmakers have had to use the private quarters of the Speaker of the House just to find a restroom that reliably stocks tampons and pads

    ???

None of the bathrooms at my work do this. Officially my job doesn’t let me keep my purse/bag near the work area (I do anyway, and my bosses acknowledge corporate policy is written by lizard people) and I have to grab pads/tampons and stuff them in my pockets before using the restroom.

Are you telling me they just have a ladies room with supplies available? That seems nice. My job doesn’t pay people well so they’d probably get stolen hoarded by people who need them more than me.

Though, my job treats trans people like humans and lets trans ladies use the ladies room, so we got that going for us.

  • There are no checks whatsoever, no email or phone number required, no verification options—it just hands you an account for a 99-year-old, with full access to all chat features. (It took maybe five clicks from having no account to being able to play Blood & Gore.)

Come on now Kotaku. I was a kid once on the internet. I lied about my age once to sign up for Neopets, which had text forums, private messages and user-created pages. You could even use HTML and hotlink images. It really wasn’t a big deal because my parents paid attention to what I did online, and the audience of the website was just children or people who wanted to play a simple game.

My mom ended up playing it, so she must have known I lied about my age to get access. She had hella neopoints.

For content marked 17+, you do need to verify your age with documentation

WHY IS THERE CONTENT FOR 17+ ON ROBLOX? Isn’t this the TRUE child safety problem? Why do this at all? Why attract people looking for 17+ content on a platform for children??? I read that Hindenburg report, the entire platform is a mess. This company deserves to fail and those investors deserve to be left holding the bag.
