    I think that’s one of the key points (and Nick kinda quickly passed over it) – the Linux desktop environments have constantly iterated over options and changes that customization at this point is more a matter of showing off rather than being a necessity to make things workable or usable




  • if you’re on Divinikey, take a look at the HMX switches (wider selection at Kinetic Labs and also at Unikeys/Unikeyboards out of Canada) – really good factory lubing, range of weights, generally a nice clear “tak” sound when bottoming out – each type of switch is basically HMX iterating on plastic blends and variations (ex. Jammy has glitter, Butter has fiberglass for a louder sound, etc.)






  • original generation of COBOL programmers where expecting their programs to be replaced (or at least rewritten) within a decade or so – and then Y2K and we realized how much COBOL was still in the wild – and now a couple decades down the line, they’re still having problems trying to convince fintech to switch from COBOL to the new language of Java …
