this is nice

buddy bootstraps
it’s nothing to do with willpower in the year-long run - that’s the rationalization of “they do it to themselves, beats me”
it’s all to do with the habits and compensations of unfulfilled life situations. unsatisfied life situations will lead to screen abuse like this. it’s adding weight on my autistic loner ass, no amount of going out to meet people and pet dogs and willpowering through habits changes the grooves of that river. i’ve reached out to have a psychologist to analyze this in the meantime since writing: they immediatly bring up acceptance for the issue and begin by (with me) breaking down the needs involved with my screentime.
• calendar • notebooks, quick-info, diary • creative outlet notebook
then the chats and porn and videogames which are a longer haul to breakdown.
none of this willpowering thru- just writing that down to anyone stuck believing the advice of “just pull yourself up by the bootstraps.”
thank you, i got irritated, but make this constructive

exactly my thought

funny thing is i checked it yesterday put every app on block
today it’s 2-clicks with no wait time to un-block apps

interesting with parental control settings and digital wellbeing as mentioned in another comment

opposite for me. if i have a phone or screen nearby i cease playing music instruments, excercise, cook food, woodwork, repair clothes, juggle, flip cardtricks, draw, read books, …

i think you’re spot on,
but remember or know that not all people’s diets are inflammatory. so there isn’t necessarily something to fix in a diet like mine which hasn’t had sugar, alcohol, meat nor heavily processed food with added preservatives pesticides… for years. locally grown vegetables and ecological vegetarian restaurants are plentyful in european big cities.
nor does the food i was served in my youth bring as much joy since it was a troubled youth with domestic abuse.
so remember now that what you’re right about isn’t a silver bullet to release oxytocin during a meal. i’m leaving you an upvote =)
disallow.

thank you
where do i declare my taxes to you

okay

i mean this is all true of them

you mistake truth for solution.
this was known by activists way before the 60’s amirite
the ideology we’re opposing - held in your example by the dean and the vice chancellor (authoritarianist roles held by petty people) - is one of reductivism & revisionism. always.
lots of known knowledge was to be wiped in Nazi germany. this is why there were bookburnings; today here are digital censoring tools of internet archive et al vaster than the bookburnings.
ofcourse the truth doesn’t crush that oppression then as now. breaking two things do: bystander apathy of those around you & learned helplessness inside you.
edit: your post’s emotional plea to urgency in the reader can be an example of a intending to break bystander apathy, but i find it falls short as learned helplessness…

literally not surprised. it’s such a reasoning we all understand: “can climate kill the people thought of as inferior? make it do so at any cost.”

idk i don’t chalk it up to a “just me” issue

FairPhone 5 and my family member uses whatever comes at a discount every other year when “their previous phone breaks down” (always software issues only)
american centric to even feel the need to ask that question

myrient.erista.me is open to me (MullvadVPN, set to Sweden)

yeah kinda defeats the purpose
appreciate the comment nonetheless, good on you to help your brother out
it’s easy to get complacent when alone. i gave my phone battery to my roomie just today
