meh
I’ve managed to get a few deals over the years that sort of fit the bill.
Hollow Knight when it was on sale, for example. But I abandoned at 98% (it goes to 113%, right?). There are a decent number of other Metroidvania-style games that are frequently discounted and are wholly enjoyable (the Shantae series, Iconoclasts, etc.).
Stardew Valley I found new, in box, for PS4 with audio CD for €8.50 and bought it based on the description without any knowledge of what it was.
Many shmups are meant to be overplayed and remain enjoyable. Radiant Silvergun comes to mind, and there is a bit of a story to that one as well.
I have nothing to defend or of which to be the victim?
I’m not a fan of the NP or the Globe, but I still read the news. Sometimes I’m disappointed with the CBC. I like seeing other ideas, though. I like seeing how the news can spin and slant things. It is part of my work.
I didn’t mean to come off as a c-nt and make you waste you time with this long response.
I haven’t lived in Canada since around 2006. I try to keep up with the news because my family lives there and the talk about this all the time. I don’t use Google News, I don’t go on Reddit, and this article managed to make it’s way through the digestive track of the Internet to land in my feed, maybe on Mastodon.
So, I read it, and I was a little irked by the numbers. I shared it here and now I have the feedback I want.
It is heartwarming to be judged so immediately based solely on the source of something I shared. Lemmy is truly becoming Reddit.
Because I happened to be reading it and it is ok to read and share things from sources you don’t necessarily like.
Now’s that’s the title of a study I want to read:
What are y’all smoking?
Abstract: Akrasia + Social Media = WTF
Fuckin’ Zuck. Seriously. Bezos too. Musk. They’re all bootlicking, ass-kissing, apple-polishing, brown-nosed toadies.
And they get away with crimes on an hourly basis.
Somebody did something inappropriate and culturally insensitive in the province of Alberta?
Not surprised.
(Now to read the article to see if there was a good reason)
Maple-washing works.
I am leery.
Every single thing I’ve learned about it or experienced has strengthened that point of view.
I took comparative religion as a class at uni, it opened my eyes. I remain tolerant because most religious people I’ve met are not, no matter how much they preach it.
I feel like most religious teaching is for people who want to be told what to do, like a child. They want those simplistic explanations, and they want a reason to be intolerant and discriminate.
Still, I try to be tolerant.
It all seems like a cult, no matter how organized or recognized the religion is: Protestant, Catholic, or Muslim (sorry, I don’t know any Jewish folks).
I came to the same conclusion as Gene Roddenberry about 4 or 5 years ago.
Doesn’t work well with my play style, and some of those Flatpak expansion sets are officially licensed.
CopyQ works good
Parcellite
ClipIt
Common Debian Swirl
Adds stability buff but forces user to wait 4 turns before enhancing any item, weapon or spell.
In case you’re wondering…
Minor Attracted Person
It is severely disturbing that such a group could exist on FB or anywhere and basically advertise their intentions to corrupt children…
In the battle of KPI vs Mixed Methods, objective vs subjective, some prefer objective…
I’m not a PC gamer, perhaps the people who play PC games invested a lot in their rig and expect a studio experience. So they review it and other people realize they are not getting the best experience.
Nintendo Switch users with NSO might not realize that the software emulation used to run those games suffers from latency, and they will enjoy themselves until someone they trust brings it up and sends them down the rabbit hole.
I’m currently grinding a game that looks like it was made in 2015 and had a few bugs. I don’t care because it is what I want to play.
I get what you mean, though.
Not exactly what you want, but FFmpeg can do waveforms
I do this for my partner’s podcast
I spent a few hours yesterday formatting an exam to send to the exam centre of my school.
Everything was set up just right. It only took 5 minutes. Clearly, I was wrong. Because the exam thing doesn’t accept PDF! Only Word files.
No problem. Turns out I already had multiple ways to convert the file (the ebook-convert
tool from calibre worked really well).
There. That was another 2 minutes. So, I went back to upload.
There is a size limit. Of course there is a size limit!
Now I have to go through the exam and “compress” the images I spent the last week preparing to get the file size down to 2.5 MB. That took a few minutes.
Then I had to manually enter every corrector and the number of groups they correct. There are 23 correctors with different numbers of groups.
Then I needed to manually enter the address of these people.
You see how this is adding up?
It is the slowest thing in the world too.
It was all set up when I got a message, at 8PM, telling me the exam would be on our online test thing and not printed!
Back to the starting block.
…
Finally got it done after 4 hours!
And now we get to do it again for a different exam!
I recognise some of the names. For sure Caribou deserves to be on the list.
I’ll throw out some names, but I’m not as up to date on Canadian music as I used to be.
She Told Me Where To Go by Old Man Luedecke has some great tracks and shows that just because you’re a folk artist doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with production and collaborations.
Rollercoaster by Cadence Weapon is great, as expected.
eNdgame by Cyberaktif isn’t amazing, but it was a nice surprise.
And Pub Royal by Les Cowboys Fringants. Beautiful work on that one. At least two of the songs make me cry. RIP Karl…
I think that’s all I got. Haven’t got around to the new Joel Plaskett but I think it’s just a rerecoding, Buck 65 hasn’t dropped anything this year, but all my old favourites are still out there makin tunes and that’s great!
Ah jeez, this picture triggered the earworm! Now that song is in my head!
