Dedicated anarchist, novice artist/writer, and extreme shipper of Wenclair.
Stance on Cooperation:
The only war or dispute that I support is the war on inequality and suffering. People need to just grow tf up and try to cooperate to build a happier world for the most amount people with no alterior motivations.
Stance on Fascism:
All of that said about my opinion of cooperation and understanding being essential, 90% of the time, the only way to ‘fix’ a fascist is to remove them from the equation alltogether. Which should be done with no hesitation, as fascists have already willingly voided their own moral worth and can hence do nothing but ignore the moral worth of others, making them dangerous and inhuman.

Listen, it’s OK if you have the terminal jitters still. It is really OK. But learning more about how the kind of thing we interact with increasingly often works (that being software, devices, etc.) has never hurt. And maybe it’s just me, but I tend to think learning is good for stimulating the brain. And that is exactly what people need more of in the age of algorithms.
I’m sorry, but learning basic syntaxing and a handful of things about how your device actually functions cannot be a bad thing. And it is certainly not even sysadmin level stuff to teach a person. It’s not even as complicated as algebra (middle to high school level stuff).
My source for my opinion on it’s difficulty is based off from 10+ people of varying degrees of tech litaracy that I have helped learn some terminal things and they all picked it basically right up. It is fully reasonable to teach someone a new skill, so I don’t understand the anti-terminal crowd such as yourself.
And yes, if they happen to have a gui that already does the thing they need, I tell them to use that. You took my meme to a rude place I think…

kernal bug disables their graphics driver
they have no gui and have never learned how to run a command
noone’s there to help them learn this time
they cry and uninstall linux (the graphics could be fixed with a one-liner if they had learned to not have terminal phobia)
unsurprised pikachu face

stolen content and ecosystem collapse
Ok, I just have to say… You… just described all of capitalism.
I understand the Anti-Ai push, but I wish we would stop acting like LLMs are doing something new or inherently worse then what we are already doing. Search engines are also themselves massive data vats thay use energy and shit unrenewably. Computing like we currently do it in any form is bad.
Could we please stop being like “AI is DesTRoYinG ThE PlaNEt!”. Because yes, it is, but every fucking thing we do in technoledgy is too. You think the fediverse is all on “green” energy?

Ooh yay, more ways for employer’s AI to autoreject people! How fun!

Ay, I should finish that show

Shhhh, don’t tell them. It will ruin our plan of infecting all kids with neurodivergence to increase Linux marketshare…

Closest I can get is like this:

but translucent, and it is not reflecting the colors, but rather eminating them all, and it isn’t a segmented thing, every piece of the color-thing is producing all of them at once. It’s visually impossible to actually show I think because our eyes don’t work like that, lol

So, this is gonna be weird, but hear me out…
I have this weird thing that is like synesthasia(-like?) thing for audio naturally becoming colors and shapes and patterns and such, but only when I close my eyes (I think that’s not normal anyway). But some sounds are weird, and produce a ‘color’ comprised of all of them, but not white, more like a translucent silverish that you can ‘see’ all the colors in together simultainiously while still being one ‘color’.
Sorry if that is confusing or too surreal sounding, but I think the meaning of life woud be that ‘color’ thing.

I wrote a thing not fully reading the title, and now I have realized I didn’t understand the vibe of your comment. Agree 10/10.

yea, that’s what I was implying, hence the quotations around “communists” and “left” (technically I used apostrophies, but I use *nix, so same difference)

Obviously you meant “poe-tae-toe poe-tah-toe”, but I initially just read this as “poe-tae-toe poe-tae-toe” and that was fabulous actually.

Yea, like ‘communists’ who have gone so far ‘left’ that they will stand by authoritarian regimes like China and the USSR despite evidence showing them to be abusive to citizens in similar ways to capitalism.
Anyways, farewell, for I must away again before they hunt me for sport like they did during the Russian revolution. (I am an anarchist, btw. Welcome to Lemmy)

Did you write this whole book in the shower?
Fair, but also, Wenclair <3

It’s simply not an oniony article because it is a common fucking lie the republicans say all the time for shock value to demonize furries and trans kids. And on top of that it’s also just not interesting or even funny because it is a real fucking thing people believe is happening. I am sorry that your post got negative comments, but attacking furries in your comment section (who are already being attacked by this lie) is also assholish af imo.
It’s really not, until it is. I personally see it as a fallback infrastructure for redundency if Tor, VPNs, Bittorrent, etc. go dark. But other than that, no, it doesn’t really serve much of a purpose rn.
I never said I, nor do I, expect shit from anyone. I don’t blame people for not knowing how it works. This is exactly why I teach people with patience and understanding. Your assuming a lot of things about my stance based of your image of certain linux people. Please read what people actually say, thank you.
PS.
People know I do computer stuff.
They ask me how to get away from microsoft.
I help them install mint.
timeskip
Mint breaks because linux always does (I love it, but it’s just true)
They expect me to fix it, so I usually just start by teaching them how to fix things in the terminal.
It’s just responsible linux ownership. I don’t understand why it’s different then knowing how to use a taskmanager gui in windows.
Can we please stop always pretending that people doing more then checking their email will be fine with linux without even touching a terminal. It’s just a lie we try and pedal to convince people to switch. It’s honestly kind of immoral tbh. It’s not fair the terminal is needed and I do love that teams are taking the initiative to make it accessable, but goddamn! Let’s stop lying about linux not being a bit finicky and sometimes requiring 1 or 2 lines of terminal code occassionally to work fine.
PPS.
There is a reason we teach people to change a flat tire if they own a car, and noone is yelling about that being “the reason noone wants a car”.
