I kind of wanted to see memes on the memes community, but maybe the moderation is a bit too loose…

After a while, you realize this place is not perfect either. Too much Linux (although I’m on Linux now), too much “voter suppression” messages from the left (which I’m no longer), tankies or whatever, I could swear I’ve seen several anti-Japanese/racist posts and the same crypto drivel you’d find on reddit.
The links were China related, and also, except for a few racists, there hasn’t been a rift between Japan and the West for a while now.
It’s a complex situation in Asia. It’s not only Japan that is wary of China. The rest of the region that share a border with China, and there are many of them including my country, are constantly having border disputes with China. As with any country, Japan has its share of loud conservatives that like similar conservative things, and if there’s anything conservatives are good at (and the left is ridiculously bad at), it’s getting into government positions.
Those Palestinian children were going to be used to populate the schools and hospitals so they can’t be bombed. Better starve them.

That the local account is just a fact of life made the installation process easier than Windows. KDE (the interface) feels snappier than Windows. Also, the auto-hide Start menu doesn’t get stuck anymore. The Win 11 Start menu won’t hide when you want them to, and hides when you didn’t want it to every single time you accidentally move the mouse cursor to the bottom. I hate that I had to reach for the keyboard every time, while watching videos and such. That drove me nuts. When your wi-fi or bluetooth is not working, Win10 and 11 love to pretend they don’t exist, so you can’t fix them unless you reboot. So many things they can fix, but most of their project teams are probably focused on adding new bullshit or integrating Office/Teams/Copilot into everything, because the OS is no longer the product.

ano_ba_to@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's one thing your learned at college/university that blew your mind?5·1 month agoI am getting into Linux now with Bazzite, but back then, Windows was still okay. Nowadays, Windows is as enshittified as MSN.com was back in the day.
ano_ba_to@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's one thing your learned at college/university that blew your mind?11·1 month agoThere is no god. No amount of looking for it would be enough. I was already doubtful beforehand. Having grown up conservatively, I kind of already knew it was all fake, but the deprogramming took a while.
ano_ba_to@sopuli.xyzto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's one thing your learned at college/university that blew your mind?121·1 month agoClassmates of mine who moved to Linux in college, 20 years ago, all graduated at least a semester later than I did. To be fair, I got my pirated copy of everything from them.

You can’t generalize the problems of the current monetary system because of the actions of a few. Crypto’s impact is high? It is a non-essential. Many cryptos don’t matter. And bitcoin, as the one people gravitate towards, is awful for the environment, for something that is a non-essential (and not even a practical currency).
ano_ba_to@sopuli.xyzto Games@lemmy.world•Mastercard release a statement about game stores, payment processors and adult contentEnglish31·2 months agoTrendy and morally correct. If we can hate on Mastercard for the banning of adult content on Steam, we can blame crypto and the people around it for the scams and the continuing environmental harm.

Everyone was supportive of him here. The playstation sub on reddit is dominated by PC masterrace preachers too, but they’re allowed. That’s a bit annoying to me, but I don’t make the rules.
This feels like a projection of their deity. Did they want to conflate the mystery of their god to the mystery of electricity? I guess I’m a theist now…

The only thing is it doesn’t make sense for a trillion-dollar corporation reaping record profits to be doing this, or maybe it does. We all say competition in the market is good, but I don’t think trillion-dollar corporations are incentivized to compete. They’re chasing dollars while employees and consumers are pennies to them.
ano_ba_to@sopuli.xyzto Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Should i switch to linux? please tell me why or why not.English4·2 months agoAs long as you back up your data, experiment to find what you want. If you have an empty spare drive, try out the different options there. It’s been a month since I moved to Bazzite. My plan was to try Mint and Bazzite while also keeping a Windows 10 ISO in my boot drive (Ventoy will allow you to have as many ISO in your USB stick). If things get too difficult, I could always go back to Windows 10. But using Bazzite has been a breeze, I decided I didn’t even need Mint. Every time I think I need to open up the terminal for any issues, I find that the solution doesn’t require it.

Cyberpunk, RDR2, Cities Skylines, Divinity Original Sin 2, no additional setup involved, no turning off the wi-fi just to create a local account. I was ready to reinstall Windows if it got too difficult. I got rid of Mint too. I thought I’d need it as people say it’s easier.
See? That means he won the argument. Checkmate, atheists.
They could not do a prediction before they booked the flight nor when they scheduled the event? So their powers are limited to same-day predictions? Probably low-level NPCs.
