I think the biggest thing is convenience. It’s a lot easier for the launcher to do some handshakes and check/update to current patch. Other way is client opening, client closing, patch applied, client opens yet again, that type of deal
Fallout 4. I think they did most things right with Survival mode and I’d consider it an entirely different game than the vanilla ‘fast travel and save anywhere’ experience, and it’d be fun to see an even more polished version with more focus on surviving in a world where NPCs are also trying to survive as opposed to more mechanics that don’t really broach that aspect such as settlement building. If they made a Fallout 5 that was a bit more challenging in that regard I’d probably consider it a masterpiece
I have one of the drawers and I’d consider myself organized. I try to keep it organized with one of these rather large Ikea Stodja drawer organizers. I used to use silverware organizers but stumbled upon this thing, 14"x20". They come in other shapes and sizes too but is a lot handier than using a regular silverware organizer because the compartments are pretty large.
Pens and notepads/post-it notes in one, batteries and an Eneloop wall charger in another, hair ties/lip gloss/rubber bands in another, big compartment holds a roll of packing tape and various other tapes, and another slot has a couple pairs of scissors.
I’d recommend getting a larger organizer just so you can compartmentalize larger things together, something a silverware organizer usually can’t accomplish
It’s a small business and there aren’t any sort of laws regarding naming conventions or titles/roles that must be filled. Sometimes ‘owner’ is who runs the show after all
I like watching the changes. The world and everything in it, including me, isn’t in stasis. People get old, I’m getting old, wild to look back at ‘young me’ or think of a close friend at a time when they were totally unfamiliar. My hometown is 10x larger and looks wildly different but I can still point out some unchanged spots when I go to visit.
I wish I could stop time and do whatever but I acknowledge that I was thrust into this with no say in any of it, so I just strive to be at peace with it I suppose
Torx is cool and all but all the touted virtues such as less cam-out go out the window if you have to drive them in at wonky angles, like tight fitting spaces. If you gotta angle the driver it’s not gonna seat well at all, apt to jump and wear out your bit. And if your only T20 rolls away and falls under a deck, yuck, 10mm problems.
Phillips has a place and that place is ‘a wonky place to hold a power drill’. That said I’m a huge fan of square head because it’s a happy medium between those two
Any important document I have is named ‘yyyymmdd(number)(briefdescription)’. Sort by name or date, I don’t care
You seemed to have dropped this
I just upgraded because we got a new condo and I’ve never had an awesome TV, and I’d say it’s totally worth it if you can put it to use, but with a decent 4K TV it’s a lot more than just the resolution. You’ll probably get HDR and 120Hz and Dolby Atmos and anti-jitter settings and upscaling and all sorts of crap and that really does seem to do a lot, compared to a midrange 1080p TV from >10 years ago, even if the source is 1080p. I even noticed a huge difference playing Baldur’s Gate 1 on Switch. For reference I went from some midrange thing to an LG C4 65" (seems to be the best ‘balling on a budget’ TV out there based on reviews, I mean there are better TVs out there but this thing delivers 95% of it for half the price)
They’ll be thinking the same thing tho and if there is a greater than 20% chance of them pulling the lever it’d be worse in terms of losing family members than not pulling at all.
But in terms of overall death, not pulling the lever is 1 or 4, and pulling the lever is 4 or 13
The outcome from both levers pulled is so steep that it really makes no sense to pull the lever
And then 2 years later they realize their tax base can’t support their infrastructure and this is how Iowa grows a couple gnarly tentacles
I’ve seen people get out of vehicles to try to take selfies with grizzly bear cubs. I could kinda see black bears but like wtf. But yeah you get slapped once by either and you’re pretty much dead if you aren’t within 10 minutes to a hospital.
Look at your bodies, women! An internal inguinal canal less likely to cause a hernia, lower center of gravity, higher body fat, and less body hair for easier cleanup. God created you for spending long hours in the coal mines!
Let’s say you turn right to park in a spot but your turning radius sucks so you’re at an angle and your rear right is really close to the car sitting in the space to the right.
Crank the wheel right as far as it’ll go and crawl forward a handful of inches so the front of your car is equally close to the car on the right and you’re parallel with that car but really close.
Straighten your wheels, reverse out all parallel to that car until your front bumper clears that car, then crank the wheel left and crawl in reverse a handful of inches, until the rear of the car is aiming in the other direction.
Straighten the wheel and crawl another couple of inches, until your rear axle is centered in the space, then put it in drive and pull right in now that the rear is centered.
You’ll see some people try to straighten out but they just straight up reverse out of the spot and wind up back at square one, you don’t want to do that, you want to use a bit excess room in front of and behind the car to essentially guide the offending axle into place, once that’s done rest follows
The median driver sure, but the bottom couple percent never miss their exit and tend to do boneheaded shit like swerving into the next lane when there’s a stopped car at a crosswalk. >40,000 US fatalities in 2023. There are probably half a dozen fatalities in the US on any given day by the time the clock strikes 12:01AM on the west coast.
Edit: some more food for thought as I’ve been pondering:
FSD may or may not be better than the median driver (maybe this investigation will add to knowledge), but it’s likely better than the worst drivers… But the worst drivers are the most likely to vastly overestimate their competence, which might lead to them actively avoiding the use of any such aids, despite those drivers being the ones who would see the greatest benefit from using them. We might be forever stuck with boneheaded drivers doing boneheaded shit
To top it all off the email/text had information redacted not by blurring it with paint, but by using characters in the same font with the same line breaks.
I mean seriously, who does that? Only time I’ve ever busted out inspector to modify a website or tweet or email is to elaborately troll someone with a sceenshot.
Did they really use inspector to redact info out an legit document about an allegedly widespread thing that no one else can produce, or did they draft the whole thing, used strings of ‘x’ to mark where to blur, and forget to blur? /shrug
Hard to justify blowing a couple grand on a card when 5 years of GeForce Now costs well under half that amount. I normally dislike subscriptions but this one is solid IMO
