I think you’re confused - seems like you think that a public place is your private space. Public space is a place where people need to consider OTHER people. You just proved OPs point.

Discovered it few years ago and really love the system and the lore is both gritty and ridiculous-over-the-top-fun.

Former diplomat shares his theoryEnglish2·1 month agoNo need to nitpick because you’re comparing apples to oranges, so I’m trying to understand what you even mean by social security and pensions. All the EEA countries provide free or accessible health care and state pensions by the state and/or military. And the reason why you’re statement doesn’t compute for me is because a lot of the “big ones + scandinavia” are conscription countries that provide everything while you’re in service and you would get military pension if you decide to stay in the army professionally after your mandatory time is over.

The US falls to its lowest-ever positionEnglish3·2 months agoI think you misunderstood how the report works. The rankings are from people answering the poll using cantril ladder scoring. Then academics try to look at different statistics in that country to try to explain why people gave their country that score. The academics don’t score the countries.

UrbonMaximus@feddit.ukto World News@lemmy.world•Israel lashes out at Vatican after Pope Francis condemns killing of childrenEnglish11·4 months agoI won’t argue about other people’s identity, but nationality wise - if they have Israeli passport, they are Israeli in the census data.
UrbonMaximus@feddit.ukto World News@lemmy.world•Israel lashes out at Vatican after Pope Francis condemns killing of childrenEnglish5·4 months agoUnfortunately the data doesn’t support your thesis. child birth graph Haredi jews are having more than double births than the average Israeli Muslim.
Combined (secular etc.) Jewish birth rate is on par (slightly higher) than Israeli Muslims and Palestinians in Gaza. (This was even before all the bullshit started last year)

All because South African Apartheid was fundamentally evil.
People forgave him because he actually changed his tactics, asked forgiveness and sued for peace instead of revenge.
“People tend to measure themselves by external accomplishments, but jail allows a person to focus on internal ones, such as honesty, sincerity, simplicity, humility, generosity and an absence of variety,” Mandela once said, according to a quote at the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg. “You learn to look into yourself.”
What’s going on in the middle east is horrible. But, let’s not change history to fit your narrative.
I guess I just found your wording strange. Plenty of people are interested in different cultures. People read Greek and Norse mythology, Japanese or Slavic folklore without even being from those parts of the world. Do you think that the Conjuring or Exorcist are only scary if you’re Christian? Or the Ring is only relatable if you’re Shinto… Or you can only enjoy Thor movies if you’re pagan…?
Why is it only scary for Muslims?
Technically correct, but your comment makes it sound like the military is actively commissioning movies, which is not the case. When Hollywood wants to make historical or war movies, they have few options:
- Buy the equipment - one military ship or airplane can be more than the whole movie’s budget.
- Prop/CGI - may look bad and doesn’t guaranty to be cheaper.
- Get all the gear for free, loaned out from the military (including training and specialists) - but they get to edit and approve your script.
I wish there were more options for independent and critical movie makers.

Just because you disagree with a definition, doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
Every country is culturally diverse, but there’s still statistical common denominator. You have big differences in languages, accents, food, culture in the UK and yet 82% are white British. Same goes for Germany, Japan etc. Every country do their demographic analyses differently, but the point is that they all can have major differences within the same ethic group.
So we should either agree to use the same definition or agree that it has no meaning and not use that word at all.
“Ethnostate - noun. a state that is dominated by members of a single ethnic group.” That exactly makes them an Ethnostate. Mandarin and Uyghur re-education camps is authoritarianism.
The 91% Han Chinese sense…

Life is only better in China economically (even this is debatable), but people care about many other aspects of life as well. The limited liberties that the Chinese people had in 1999 are disappearing quickly.
