  • Unpopular opinion but I’m not seeing many people put any blame on Biden for dropping out after the very first debate. The whole “too old” argument was extremely weak and, unfortunately, a large chunk of men in the United States will never vote for a woman. No matter how strong her stance is, what qualifications, or anything, they are staunchly against a woman in power.

It’s unfortunate but dropping out and nominating the VP that nobody really knew for doing anything during the 4 years of Biden wasn’t the best option, especially because people felt like they didn’t vote for her, and the aforementioned sexism that still exists. If they put Walz up, or even Beto, they would have been better options IMO.

Edit: Not seeing much discussion, just downvotes. If Lemmy is to be better than Reddit I recommend not downvoting only because you disagree.

The only thing they check for is if you have a felony or not, and that’s only actual gun dealers like you’d find at a gun show. Usually takes 10-15 minutes and if you don’t get an immediate “clear” in that 15 minutes they’ll hold the gun for you for 2 days, and after 2 days if the govt has no further reason for the hold you can get your gun. From what I understand if they have no good reason after that 2 day timeframe they HAVE to clear the sale.

Man to man, private sale of a gun? No checks, have a good day sir, bang bang bang

This is all anecdotal to my experience buying my 2nd gun after the one given to me at birth by the state of Texas was no good /s

  • I’m thinking they were hoping that people would jump on it so hard they would rely on AI to make decisions and tell them what to do, but Microsoft would hold the keys to what information the AI put out.

Generally, though, when you force things down people’s throats and they don’t want it or want to use it, you’re in for a bad time. I personally go out of my way not to use AI; there are tons of articles and talks out there about how it stifles critical thinking and research. That, coupled with how early it is and how they tried to put it in EVERYTHING, put a bad taste in my mouth just like Y2K many moons ago.

Similarly, in Battlefield 2, if you played Commander you could zoom in for a pretty good live feed of the battlefield so you could call out soldiers if one of your squads was in a fight. In addition to that you could do a full radar sweep of the full map that would put markers on enemy positions.

Anytime I did the full sweep and saw one or two soldiers waaaay outside of any fight, I knew they were either another Commander or a camper. So I’d do what they call “Car-tillery”, and call a friendly jeep right on top of their heads. Bonus points if it was windy and you still got the angle right.

It became such an issue that servers would specifically ban Car-tillery, and if you were caught you’d usually get kicked. Good times, good times
