whataboutism is a common tactic for conservatives. instead of using it to condemn an action they use it to excuse it. their double standards have become so apparent that it doesn’t trigger any sort of cognitive dissonance when a Democrat is condemned for doing something a Republican already did. any sane person could make the argument “aren’t they both bad then?” and it will go completely unheard.

these are targeted at boomers who are already programmed to feel guilty about about any decision that effects profit margins.

it looked exactly like that until like a year ago or something. steam is the only app i know that got updated like every single day and literally nothing changed in it for years at a time.

they’re remembered differently because you can’t compare a legendary frontman from the 90s to a 1 hit wonder in the 2000s. they are definitely comparable as far as addiction goes but the quality of music? Amy winehouse had like 1 or 2 songs that got popular compared to the dozen or so hit songs that are still played regularly today while I can’t remember the last time I heard Amy winehouse played. it has absolutely nothing to do with her being a woman. there are so many amazing female musicians who’s music will be remembered with the same nostalgia as nirvana, Amy winehouse will simply never be one of them because she’s not that great in my opinion.

what difference does it make now? 99% of white americans claim native american ancestry as if we fucked these people into extinction. everyone i know is related to a cherokee or blackfoot princess through their great great great grandparent…i even heard the same story in my family. once i got my dna test results that said “0% native american” i started to wonder exactly how many indian “princesses” there are. if you change it, best case scenario everything stays the same and worst case scenario you get fired for lying on your application. doesnt seem like a good move to rock the boat.

the argument feels like guilt tripping poor people for not making their masters richer. if you only care about getting paid, I do not give any fucks about your content because it’s probably garbage anyway. it seems the only “content” people like this produce are shitty hottakes of them ranting about something they don’t understand.

tl;Dr if your content is just a recording of yourself then it’s accurate to say I don’t give a shit about the content creator in that scenario.
