Everyone is going to have different lifestyle wants. My low number might be too low for many, they might think living more lavishly would be more “rich”. I figured my numbers are adequate to live a moderate lifestyle and have no serious money worries. No Ferraris, of course, but a top trim level Honda no problem or a good BMW with some budgeting.
The real luxury is not having to work.
Is he going to buy a “founder of the USA” label and have it put in the Constitution like he made himself a Tesla founder?
Nobody wants to give a hard number?
I’ll say six million dollars earning ~5%/year. That’s $300k/yr before taxes. Assuming long-term investments, that’s 15% gains tax, so take $45k for taxes (fed), no idea what state will be because they’re all different, so just round it down to $250k year income in your pocket.
$250k/yr isn’t a lot of money…(I can hear the wtf’s…just hang on)…out of that has to come all your expenses including medical insurance in the US, your mortgage, car payments, etc.
This is not “fuck you” money. This is living an upper middle class lifestyle. You’ll have nice cars but not crazy nice. A decent house but not a mansion. You can tweak it a little this way or that depending on the CoL of where you live, but not a lot. Yeah, you can earn more in interest, but I was being conservative.
You’re rich because you don’t have to lift a finger to enjoy it, and you have the time to enjoy it.
Want closer to fuck you money with the above conditions? Try $20 million in the investments at 5%. That’ll get you a million a year before tax.
Wonder what “free speech absolutist” freedoms he’s going to apply to that service.
Got his own camp to run, anyway.
“Likely the terrorists obtained their weapons from a ‘friend’”
Now that’s just lazy. Why make things up? You can look up information about one of the most well documented terrorist events in history very easily.
They brought their own weapons. It wasn’t against any FAA rules to not have them.
If adhesive is the issue, just use rubber bands or plastic-coated wire as a hanger that won’t damage anything.
Trump isn’t even president yet and this is a shitshow.
Make him king so they can get their largesse.
Darkwave? Might be a little goth-y.

Wireless tech has improved greatly over the last 20 years. Speed, latency, bandwidth, stability…all generally excellent. 15 years ago I wouldn’t have wanted to use a wireless mouse or LAN connection. Now? NBD. They just work. Still have issues with poor signal in some areas, but mesh range boosters take care of that pretty easily.
Can’t imagine the wait times for elevators at whatever the start/end of normal working hours must be.
I think I watched about half of the US presidential debate, and just enough of the election to have a handle on the result. That’s all the normal TV I’ve watched in years. Not including netflix or other streaming programs.
Some wtf material right here.
And there would always be outs for the rich so they wouldn’t have to.
No TDY? No “space time” pay?
Huh. Kinda surprising.
Can’t find it now, but there was a reddit post where someone had shared a pic of a small DIY nuclear shelter for a family. Someone dissected why it was such an awful design, from the poor design for airflow, heat dissipation problems, inadequate walls to block radiation… there was a lot wrong with the design that you’d have to decide between dying of suffocation or just opening the door and getting some radiation.
A modern bunker would have to be relatively big, have all kinds of well thought out airflow systems that you could change a filter in without contaminating the “safe” area, and power to run it all for probably months at least. But now you’re the one person who is in good shape in a wasteland where easily a massive percentage of the population has died of lack of resources, medication. The people that kept everything running and repaired are among the dead, and probably the global supply chain has fallen apart. So congratulations…your bunker has saved you for a really shitty existence.
Edit: Found the reddit post.Seven years ago… can’t believe it stuck in my brain that long.
Where I live there are limited bridge crossings over a large waterway near a major metro area.m. Destroying those alone would be incredibly disruptive.
Bill Gates has never been a “good” billionaire. Think of all the shady shit Microsoft did under his tenure to make his billions. Yeah, his foundation does good - but that’s all press image polishing to make you forget what he did before.
