All I can think of is a TED talk I saw where the speaker had given some presentation to a bunch of billionaires and had some q&a, and one of them who had built a bunker for themselves asked him how they could prevent their security team from turning on them in the bunker.

The TED talk guy responded “Be kind to them?”

And the Billionaire said “But where does that end?”

As a huge fan of the original, but disappointed with the sequels, I’m cautiously optimistic!

It makes sense that VHS production ceased, since DVD’s are better in every metric, cheaper to produce, and eventually became the bigger market after players got so cheap. I would’ve thought blurays would continue that trend, but if these sales statistics are anything to go by, it’s possible DVD could outlive Bluray as a viable market. I assume DVD’s occupy a sweet spot between good enough quality and affordability.

I assume there will still be less prominent brands making them, just as there are still DVD players being made.

True, forgot about them! Only issue with Lems (or at least their boots) is their construction doesn’t lend itself super well to resole-ing (though neither do Vivo’s, really), though I have heard of cobblers doing it by grinding down the existing sole and gluing on a replacement.

The Jim Green Barefoot African Ranger is constructed like a traditional boot, so is easily resoled by any cobbler, but I had to send mine back since they weren’t wide enough for me (they seem to be on the more narrow end of ‘barefoot’ style boots).

But for how affordable lems are, they’re a solid choice and have way more cushion than vivos.
