2·6 months agoI’d say 2021 is still pretty damn recent, most of my computing devices are still pre 2020. It’s also not just Apple, for example the latest Fairphone 6 doesn’t support it either. Images can still be pretty damn big when taken from a high resolution camera, and software decoding defeats the benefit from a format that’s supposed to be efficient. I’d say that it will probably take another decade for avif to become mainstream.

2·6 months agoAV1 is only supported by new devices, most support VP9. For example, the iPad Air 2024 does not support AV1.
Pretty sure this is AI slop, those hands don’t look right
Should have sold a 1/5 pound burger then lol

181·11 months agoLUKS encrypts the whole drive, native FS encryption can encrypt it partially (e.g. just the home partition). Additionally, decrypting without a keyboard is a pain or impossible (e.g. touch screen only devices).

The trick is to download the games until your drive is full. Then you need to finish them to free up some space.

21·1 year agoWould an open-source Windows installer make it open-source? After all, you can replace its .dll files and modify the registry. I guess PrismLauncher also makes Minecraft open-source, you can replace the textures there as well.
Do you know how many election there were in the year 2000? Gotta be more precise than that
How do you even open the “Application” view on a touch device?

1·1 year agoIt’s been a while, so the answer would probably be no. That’s why I’m asking. Last time I used Gnome, the home screen was always empty. Favourites are only shown after pressing the Super key or going into Activities. Is that not the case anymore?

1·1 year agoSo no quick way to open my 30ish favorite apps? Is there also a gesture to close an app or do I need to press the close button?

1·1 year agoWell, I can simply open an app by tapping it on the home screen on Android. What do I need to do on Gnome?

Good news, a new exploit has been recently found that can unlock the boot loader of several older Sony phones, even the Japanese models which were not unlockable until the discovery!
