I don’t know how helpful this is, but we’d welcome you with open arms in most of europe on a social level, especially west and northern europe. On a institutional level there are requirements that vary from country to country about work and skills etc.

It is not a problem in many contexts. For instance complementing people in social non-work gatherings. “Wow, you look great in that suit”, or “You are even prettier than I remember”. Or when talking about someones ability to attract attention.

However in the context of an important message from a person, it derails the conversation and kinda just objectifies a person. As if it is more important than what they are saying or contributing.

It basically boils down to this: Do you want to be remembered for being good looking or your contributions to this world? How does it feel to be unsure if you got the job, because of looks? Or if people are listening because of your looks?

I was just about to say the same thing. I think a lot of things in society would be different if we were actually honest and actually saw the real state of things. Firing squad is humane (if you have to do the non-humane thing of killing someone in the first place) and honest.

First off, I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I believe we all should see and know where our meat, eggs and dairy comes from, and exactly how it is produced. I believe we would either improve the lives of those animals a lot, or reduce the consumption of animal based food.

Consider other works of art that more than one person contributes to. People do research together, people make software together, bands make music together etc. I guess Christopher Waltz isn’t creating amazing art when he portrayed Hans Landa in the opening sequence of Inglorious Bastards, or any other actor for that matter. They are just doing what the script tells them to.

When you sing you make something original. The lyrics might not be, the other instruments might not be, but there is only one exact voice that is yours.

I identify with Norwegian and western european liberal values. I believe in free speech, democratic values, science, press freedom, human rights, unity, being compassionate, a strong welfare state, equality, womens rights, lgbtqia+ rights. I also have a sense of feeling that all europeans are my peers and that we are a collective. When Russia attacked Ukraine, it felt as if they in some way also attacked a close neighbour, a friend and our way of life.

I agree, but am happy that X is losing users to Bluesky, so I don’t try to convert friends and family from Bluesky to Masrodon. I’d rather they start changing other stuff instead that is easier.

I was at some point wanting to visit the US as a tourist, see the grand canyon etc. The last part of me that wanted to go there has changed the last couple of months.

But even before Trump won, I imagined a couple of horrendous scenarios that could happen based on things I read online. This confirms my worst fears. This does not sound like a safe country to visit. Even as a white cishet man.

Facebook makes a certain amount of money per person. It’s probably not that high.

If they can easily gather and find simple quick replacements for US goods that probably affects the US economy more.

I don’t use Facebook for this myself, but have made lots of changes effectively now moving large sums of money from US companies to EU equivalents. There are still some stuff left, but most things are changed.

I think that has a bigger effect and is a lot easier

Now we subscribe to a Norwegian service that includes Britbox instead. It has some US shows as well, but mainly European

I encourage you to read my other posts in the different threads here and see. I am not an apologist, and do not condone it either.

I do genuinely believe AI can generate content it is not trained on, that’s why I claimed it can generate illegal content without a victim. Because it can combine stuff from things it is trained on and end up with something original.

I am interested in learning and discussing the consequences of an emerging and novel technology on society. This is a part of that. Even if it is uncomfortable to discuss.

I really don’t know enough about the subject or how that therapy works. I doubt that it is conversion therapy, but Ii really don’t know. I would assume it’s handling childhood trauma, medications etc.

Both therapy and if satisfying urges through AI generated content, is both something that should be answered scientifically. If there is research then that should be the basis for what decisions is taken, if there is a lack of research then more research should be the next step.
