The most insulting part was using GameShark to level skip and realizing the rest of the game wasn’t much fun (or finished) either.

They could have done so much better by removing the timed rings thing and just let you fly around a mostly empty city, blowing up Lex’s robots or something. It would at least have felt Superman-esque lol.

This reminds me: I was thinking of “Independence War Deluxe”, because sheesh, I couldn’t even get that running from a PC Gamer demo CD on release-era hardware LOL.

We can tell every interested country/party/whatever to fund it with $1bn US. 👍

As a KDE person who’s got an 'ol reliable Mint machine, I’m really glad Cinnamon has fans. I do wish certain customization was a little easier maybe? But it really does “just work” while looking pretty enough and not being overly obtuse.

I love my KDE and it kicks butt right now, but I don’t want to see everything converge on a single DE. I want them all to improve for the people who love them for their own reasons.

So…that’s kinda a poll, and it sends a pretty stark message! :p

The government said it could void the pass if people “deface” the cards by covering Dear Leader.

Given that seeing his face is basically visual molestation, I can see why tons of people “who buy a pass every year” opted to not bother.

It says “…Of Americans”, so the optimist in me says “25% of people didn’t know about or answer the poll.”

I feel like pop culture has really fed into this nonsense, where every scene between anybody is written/filmed as “ship-bait”.

This idea people can’t be friends without underlying sexual tension feels a lot like “you can’t just enjoy something without putting it online and side-hustling it.” And it sucks.

It feels like another extension of how everyone sees every single human interaction as transactional anymore.

Hah, sorry, I didn’t mean it to be depressing. True, I was kinda venting a painful experience but . . .my sincere hope is that someone might learn from my mistakes, and finally stop putting off spending time with people who matter to them.

There will always be excuses to put it off til “next time”, “one day”, “eventually…”, but we don’t have forever to get over them, and we need our fellows more than we ever have.

And yeah, the terminally-online are a frightening combination of “ferociously bitter” and “obsessed with being ‘a part of something’”, that they actually rejoice in the suffering of others as if oppression is some kind of football game.

I want no part of whatever someone like that is selling.

Yeah I’m kinda terrified to watch that one, not gonna lie. I get an emotional overreaction just looking at the cover…

It’s definitely a tight rope. I was a bit of a “gun nut” as a teen. Mostly by way of fiction and research.

But the difference, and why I’m probably alive and with all my fingers today, is my dad constantly and heavily emphasized safety alongside exposure in controlled environments. They were something to fear and respect, but not be afraid of.

I worry about this as a soon to be father myself. We might be in a situation where arms become necessary, God forbid.

An interest can be healthy, but we definitely need to put the ridiculous carelessness and violence-porn power fantasies into the “outrageous stupid entertainment in moderation” box, rather than glorifying it as a core part of our culture.

I still feel really curious about getting around to that one.

The most unsettling thing is working at my local library, and that movie’s been out for a long time now, and I see it circulating CONSTANTLY.

That speaks volumes about what’s on people’s minds, I think…
