Looking at how bad our current system is, there’s clearly no need to prevent the videos from getting out because the officer can get away with it despite that.

And even if the officer doesn’t, the department can just scapegoat them and just keep doing the same things.

All the more reason to not waste a 0-day or risk the knowledge of a backdoor getting out.

Sourcing just shifts the problem to having to verify the source though. Antivax people could easily cite thousands of sources. We’d know there bullshit, but some mod would be stuck needing to vet them.

It’s easy for common misinformation like antivax, but more unusual claims could easily be left around just because they have something seemingly relevant linked.

I don’t disagree with the idea, it just isn’t enough of a fix and would still require a lot of work.

You’d likely only be able to use it effectively once before people seek out different recording devices, or just the knowledge that cameras were disabled in that area would be as damning as any video.

Especially for any zero-day exploits. As soon as it gets used people start protecting against them so they often don’t work for very long. It would need to be a pretty big coverup to be worth burning an exploit on. Especially if it’s likely that at least one person in the area wouldn’t be susceptible and could still record it.

I’ve used this nightly for years and it’s been great for me. It takes some time to adjust the sensitivity to capture midnight ramblings properly, but the recordings are freely accessible and easily saved if you want to keep them.

Working for the agency isn’t the problem on its own. If your job requires you to do something that is against your morals, resist up to and including loudly leaving that job if that’s what’s required. But until then it’s more important than ever to stick it out and push to make things better any way you can.

If God created it in that state then they should be curious to understand that creation. They look at rainbows as the beauty of creation but not the fact that lead exists in these crystals. It’s all equally beautifully complex. So why not try to understand it.

If God made the world look like it was created billions of years ago there must be something worth learning from that, even if you believe it was snapped into existence 6000 years ago.

Not everyone has access to the financial education that teaches you how bad this is. I see so many people that don’t actually understand how credit cards work because they “just got one” after signing up for a rewards program (basically, got scammed into signing up).

Don’t rely too much on ChatGPT here. It’s not a human and isn’t going to respond the same way a human would.

If you over practice with that tool you might become great at debating ChatGPT but that may entrench bad habits that hurt you when debating a human.

I think this is the strongest protection against this attack. You’d need to identify enough people at enough varied polling locations to be significant enough to sway an election.

Do too many at one location and it raises flags. Cast a vote with a name that also votes absentee or at another location, raises flags.

You’d have to distribute enough fake votes over a large enough area and across enough different shifts to not get anyone’s attention. And that’s expensive and hard to keep secret due to how many people would be involved.

A lot of food safety laws are built around the highest levels of safety because you never know how vulnerable one of your patrons might be. I have no idea about the actual health impacts but based on that I assume it’s another minor vector for foodbourne illness that alone has a really small impact.

I’m more worried about what it means about the rest of the kitchen’s cleanliness. Hairnets/hats are easy, so if they can’t do that then what else are they forgetting?

I’m not sure on the rules/general use but my ear agrees with this. As soon as you put an “and” between them nearly any order seems totally normal.

I think it might depend on if the person mooning is moving toward the victim and if the victim is “in range” of…the butt.

If someone was backing that (bare) ass up on me I’d definitely feel threatened, or if they moon me so close that they might spray me.

The alternative isn’t controlling how people use chatbots on their own machines. It’s limiting corporations from profiting off of chatbots that use another person’s likeness.

You don’t need to jump to assuming regulations would have to control what you do on your computer specifically.

If you’re memorizing your password, don’t change it too often because it’ll just confuse you and encourage you to pick easy to remember passwords which are less secure. Change your password if you hear about a hack, or have reason to suspect your password got leaked. Otherwise there’s no need.

If you have a password manager though, go off. Change it as often as you’d like.

Look at Amazon and their Fire TV platform. It’s just android, with all of the Google stuff stripped out.

Sure, Google may not be getting any money for that, but they are getting more dev time and attention on the open source parts of Android which helps to solidify the base of the OS which helps them.

And Android got popular because it was open and manufacturers could build phones that support it without necessarily needing to involve Google (or at least without needing to certify it or meet strict standards) which let the platform grow significantly. If Google closed it up today it would likely cause a fork in the Android platform ecosystem and you’d end up with “Google Android” on pixel and “Open Android” on all others.
