IT’S A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE FOR NEW USERS TRYING TO RUN A DESKTOP. Steer clear.
Same can be said for Arch but people still install it as their first distro.

Linux Mint, Nobara, Bazzite. Just try them. Worried? Then try them in a virtual machine.
I’ve been using Tresorit on Linux for 5 years. I even got it to work on NixOS somehow ;o
How do you think non-technical people become technical? They experiment and learn. You’re gatekeeping for no reason and treating OP like a child.
“Isn’t a great researcher these days and always wants to be the smartest guy in the room and he knows it.”
When has he ever wanted to be the smartest guy in the room? He constantly acknowledges that others are smarter and better than he is. He literally transformed his entire testing methodology because he acknowledged that Steve from Gamers Nexus does it better. That doesn’t sound like he “always wants to be the smartest guy in the room” to me. If anything, it shows humility and willingness to learn.
You say you “love the guys content” but it shows that you haven’t watched him at all because you are painting him as an arrogant idiot when he has shown that he isn’t.

If he wanted to compare the tweaks made by the distro, he should have used proton experimental for all distros, not just Bazzite. We already know there won’t be much of a difference in performance but he’s literally introducing another variable to compare which makes the comparison less clear on whether performance differences are due to the distro’s kernel tweaks or due to different proton versions.
It’s a French thing, you had to be there.

Yeah but people are still capable of using Arch and imo NixOS is much easier than Arch. Once you figure out how to do something on NixOS you don’t have to go through all the troubleshooting/learning over and over. With Arch it’s an active investment of your time all the time.
So if people are capable of using Arch, then they can handle NixOS. NixOS is hard but it’s not world ending hard.
