I’ll take your word for it. Checking history always makes me feel somehow creepy, and if I do not suspect you of purposeful bad-faith engagement (then I’d want to see what the rest of your engagement looks like so I could judge if it is a bad-faith post) I have no reason to bother. On one hand I do appreciate you posting on the Fediverse and supplying a nice joke for us, on another, AI… it’s not exactly popular here and I can understand why. I think you might have posted something about that in Fedigrow before?

You might want to at least label this image as AI-generated. Obviously I know this is not a real picture, people don’t walk around with owl heads instead of person heads, but I’m one of those folk still really easily fooled by AI images and without people in the comments talking about it I definitely would have thought some artist made this.

The mixing of the themes with an owl on a football is delightful.

Not a sports person myself but I can see why people like them. I have also accidentally fallen into the baseball video pipeline on YouTube.

I’ve been taking my walks midday-ish, to coincide with the hottest part of the day. It is winter, after all. I guess that’s why I haven’t seen any owls.

Barn owls do have a use, yes, but it is nice to see that people still have room in their hearts for a bird even when things are going poorly.

I wonder where you get all these high quality owl pictures. Yes, you post the source, but that is not what I mean. Do you seek them out specifically to post? Are you already such a huge owl fan that they just naturally show up on your regular internet browsing, and you decide to share some with us?

I’m a mix of both. Sometimes I specifically browse the internet for cute animal content to post on Lemmy, sometimes I just am browsing for cute animal stuff on my own and think “huh wait, Lemmy could use this.”

Not an owl person but subbing because of this article. This is cool.

Nobody in my neighborhood, or the adjacent neighborhoods, has posted any owls online. But looking at the map of where people post, there are dots kind of near me so it seems I should definitely be able to find some owls!

I’ll be honest, it is really hard for me to see this one as wholesome, given I’m part of a household where two people did not want a dog and one did. We got overruled. The dog-wanter promised they would do all the work, and I knew that that promise would be broken. I brought that up several times before the purchase.

Well, the people who didn’t want the dog (including myself) get stuck with all the work. I for one do not like the dog one bit. I hate it. I have a feeling if it seriously injured one of us the dog-wanter would fight to keep it and flat-out ignore any trauma that might have been acquired from that situation (and tbh that already kind of happened). I want it given to a shelter as soon as possible. The other person—I cannot gauge their feelings, sometimes they agree with me but sometimes they call it a nickname as if they love it.

I am glad for all the people who are happy but man, please don’t think because of all these “man who didn’t want dog likes it anyways” posts that you can just bring an animal home that others in the household don’t want and expect it to turn out like the memes.

I don’t like to be the person ruining everyone else’s fun, but I figure this is just one meme, a small bit of ruined fun, compared to the giant dump on my parade that taking care of an animal I don’t like and that I never wanted is. There are lots of responsibilities that can be unexpectedly dumped on me that I will handle with grace. This is not one of those responsibilities. I don’t want anyone else subjected to this because “look at all the anecdotes of people who said they did not want an animal and liked it anyways, there was a whole subreddit for that, surely it’ll turn out the same if I do it!” And if I’m just being stupid and nobody would ever take that as evidence… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
