1·11 days agoYeah, that all sounds reasonable.
Personally, I think Valve should price the SM as low as possible since they might have a real chance of replacing Xbox in the console market. Maybe they’ll lower prices after they have proof of demand like with the Steam Deck OLED?

1·11 days agoValve was very clear that it would be priced as a PC and not a console
Valve hasn’t been clear about the price at all though. That could simple mean it won’t be sold at a loss like console have historically been.
Tom from Moore’s Law estimated the cost to build the steam machine at $425 and the steam deck at around $300. If the Steam Machine is sold for the save $100 profit that’s a total of $525.

1·12 days agoThe Gabe box is more laptop-esque than PC really. The Steam Machine GPU is closer to a 7600m as both use (28cu) vs the desktop 7600(32cu).
Afaik the CPU is only 2 full zen4 cores and 4 zen4c, which would also save on cost. But, honestly I don’t remember where I read that so don’t take the CPU part as fact. If I find the source I’ll link it later

Fox was never fined, they where sued by “Dominion Voting Systems Corporation” for defamation and settled out of court for close to 800m. No government body penalized Fox for lying.
it would apply to any broadcasting on any platform.
How is that not the case? Instead of Rupert Murdoch lying to you now it’s Elon Musk, new media is just an evolution of the same bullshit.
You really believe that traditional media is truthful with people? Have you never heard the term “manufacturing consent”? Have you never heard of Fox News lol?
Is that really any different than believing everything you hear on TV or believing everything you read in the newspaper? A lot of what we’re taught in school shouldn’t be believed either honestly.

5·1 month agoThis seems to be the case every time the government gives out a credit or money directly to any company. From what I understand it’s exactly the same with solar panel credits, the companies that manufacturer or install the panels just raise prices for the amount of the credit and consumers are tricked into thinking they’re saving money.

6·2 months agoSewer cleanout probably. Never seen a cap like this before though, looks kinda flimsy. Maybe get a piece of plywood and cutout/drill for holes that align with the nubs and turn the plywood so you can put force on all four nubs?

4·2 months agoHas legality or bad PR stopped Microsoft in the past? Worst case they pay a fine and everyone continues to use Windows anyways. The only reason Microsoft hasn’t done this already is because they haven’t figured out a way to profit from it yet.
Basically all of Valves business relies on Windows. Valve saw how Apple operates MacOS and iOS, then saw Microsoft release the Windows Store and put two and two together lol.

43·2 months agoI think the whole point of Steam OS is to cut down reliance on Microsoft. If Microsoft really wanted to the could cut support to Steam all together.
That doesn’t look terrible and you could definitely fill those in with come premixed concrete from your local hardware store. Just make sure to chip out any loose bits first.
Mold in basement is pretty common issue though because basements are always cooler from being underground. So investing in a dehumidifier would be as good idea, one that can drain out on it’s own ideally so you won’t have to empty it every other day.

This is wood right? If so, wood floor does expand/shrink a bit depending on temperature. It looks like maybe it wasn’t cut to the right size and needs to be shaved down ⅛-¼ inch to fit property.
