Any person who has ever told me to ‘think with your head and not your heart’ has always - without exception - turned out to be a major asshole who does a lot of harm to themselves and those around them.

When someone reminds me of something I’ve completely forgotten about. It’s the worst feeling…
They would first have to prove that you were the one who did it. Good luck with that.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that uBlock Origin has non-default filters to block cookie consent noticesEnglish
8·7 days agoIf I recall, there’s actually a setting in Firefox that automatically deletes all cookies when you close the browser.
I’m baffled. Thanks for letting me know! :)
So bizarre. Well…I guess pasting the link in your browser isn’t too difficult. The video is well worth watching!
I did. It shows up just fine for me. How strange…

17·9 days agoI’ve always found it humorous that in all of the movies I’ve seen, you never once see a musketeer use a musket. Just saying, it’s odd.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Do you ever think there are too many PC games? So did Ultima's Robert Garriott—in 1989English
6·11 days agoI’ve come to the same conclusion. And it just seems like every game that comes out is just a re-skinned version of some other popular game with nothing really new to bring to the table, anyway.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Do you ever think there are too many PC games? So did Ultima's Robert Garriott—in 1989English
14·11 days agoI remember reading somewhere that there are officially more PC games being released than there are players to play them. Of course, if one is talking about the amount of quality games being released, then the number shrinks very fast.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a gender neutral honorific for non-binary folk?English
12·11 days agoYes, I’ve done this, as well. It definitely works.
I absolutely loathe this tradition, and I ask everyone to not do it in celebration of me. I also ask friends and family to not let anyone know it’s my birthday at any restaurant we’re at, as well. I fucking hate being sung to. Like, a lot. Just give me a pat on the back or something for Chrissake…

46·12 days agoHaving worked in the retail sector for some time, I quickly learned that appearances are often deceiving after a few embarrassing blunders on my part. I taught myself to call everyone ‘my friend’. I had no more problems after that.

3·14 days agoHeh…not sure why such a conclusion would make you glad, but if there’s one thing that’s universally true of the human race, it’s that people will do amazing things - amazingly awesome things, and amazingly terrible things. I guess the trick is to try to do more of the awesome stuff as much as we can… shrug

31·14 days agoIn order to answer the challenge, I suppose the first question would be ‘what constitutes a religion?’ If you’re simply talking about a group of people who share a passionately held belief that tries to get others to conform to that belief through emotional manipulation, intimidation and peer pressure, well…you’re pretty much talking about the entire human race.

I mean, even ‘think with your head and not your heart’ is perfectly valid under certain circumstances. It just happens to be used generously by people who are trying to justify doing harm, that’s all.
