An important point to remember with these IM landers is they’re attempting to land on much rougher terrain than anything we’ve accomplished so far, and it’s attempting to do so autonomously by constantly snapping photos and analyzing them in real time to determine a safe landing spot. This was just their second attempt, I wouldn’t count them out yet.
I’m torn between wether the right response to that one is wanting Linux to support them, or refuse to play games that insist on requiring malware to play their game.
Recently finished a re-read of Lord of the Rings, and am working my way through The Silmarillion again now. Found them in gorgeous hardback editions that also have Tolkien’s illustrations. Ideally once I’m finished with Silmarillion I’ll start in on Tolkien’s other works that I’ve never read at all - Unfinished Tales, Morgoth’s Ring, etc.
The density of your take rivals that of a Strange Matter star. Impressive.
I’m sure those of us already on the SAVE plan will be receiving our notice of unlubed surprise buttsex soon enough.
Face eating leopards are going to be morbidly obese by the end of this administration.
I spun up Jellyfin recently just out of curiosity and setup wasn’t difficult at all. You can point it at the exact same library folders that Plex uses, so there’s not really much to migrate. Jellyfin will take time to do its media processing on the first library import, but that doesn’t require anything but patience while it does its thing.
It definitely supports remote streaming - one of my friends in another state was able to successfully sign in and watch something.
Jellyfin’s support for plugins is nice as well - paired with JFA-GO, user account management is a breeze.
The main drawback it still seems to need work on is streaming support on a larger variety of devices, which is where you’d be likely to still run into issues since you share your library with others. A few of my friends have devices that don’t have Jellyfin apps, and it’s the only reason I haven’t transitioned everything off of Plex. I don’t recall exactly what devices they were using that didn’t work, but I’m pretty sure at least one or two were game consoles.
I tried using DuckDNS for a while for DDNS, but noticed it seemed to have frequent periods of a few minutes each when it just wouldn’t resolve. Also was unable to get a matrix/synapse setup working behind it. It’s handy as a free service and nice if you just need basic DDNS, but it’s not the most reliable for hosting stuff from my experience.
I eventually settled on buying my own domain. Was much cheaper and easier to figure out DNS management than I was expecting, and my hosted services run so smoothly now.
Edit RE: downvotes: fuck me for sharing my experience? Kinda thought that was the point of this community…
I see someone finally got their meds refilled.
Are people just going to keep reposting this misleading shit headline of a post until no one reads the article and just goes along with it?
Are the people constantly reposting this even reading the article and realizing how illiterate they look?
It’s me, the unfiltered military guy. Gonna need to see that proof again.
This is one of the reasons why I set up a Wireguard VPN connection to my home network, and an on-demand VPN connection on my phone that automatically turns on anytime I’m not on the home network. Even away from home I get the benefits of my Pi-hole+Unbound (running as recursive resolver) setup.
Almost wish the guy would find it so this non-news story would stop making the rounds every few weeks with no new details. Doesn’t even tickle my sense of schadenfreude anymore.
Was about to ask in amazement who would still be fucking this man, but sounds like they’re great for each other.
Since suggestions in the comments are just words of apologists, do you have a proposal for a solution, or is this just a rant post?
All I’m getting right now is a vague idea of some Master GUI that resembles the cockpit of a commercial jet that no “average user” is ever going to try and decipher, anyway.
Yay! Sportsball!
Pass the nachos.
Coincidence. Pilots didn’t suddenly forget how to fly just because Trump became president.
I GOT A MANGINA!
