I for one like the ability to heat my home at night in the winter, not have it be >30°C inside in the summer (system has to catch up at night), keep my living space at a reasonable humidity, cook food, and use modern amenities without incurring a ridiculous cost.

My state charges an EV tax at vehicle registration renewal that is substantially more than the tax that would be paid on gasoline. I’d have to drive around 5 times what I do before it starts getting close. There were talks of adding some other kind of tax too, beyond this, which would be double dipping.
