This one would have been a lot less confusing and a bit funnier if she wasn’t actively holding a copy of Half-Life in her hand. I’m trying to figure out why they did that, maybe I’m missing something?

This reminds me of something I did when I was a kid. I put together a Windows XP shortcut that would shutdown the computer on a delay and pop up a message that told you that you were infected along with how to cancel the shutdown command, if you were quick enough.
Well, I was showing my friends in the computer lab and the teacher came up behind me and saw the message. He freaked out, I freaked out, so I didn’t get it canceled before the PC shutdown.
All of the sudden I was in the principals office accused of uploading a worm to their network. Coincidentally, there were issues effecting their entire network and I was the easiest target.
To this day I’m still furious at that teacher. Instead of listening to what I had to say and realizing it was a simple windows shortcut, he berated me and told me it WAS a virus because anything that shuts down a computer like that is.
He could have taken a look and been impressed that someone at that age had the ingenuity to put it together, but instead assumed the worse and killed my passion for computers for many years after. I have half a mind to find his contact information and tell him that he was, in fact, wrong and what that did to kill my passion.
This is an answer to a question I never knew I had. I always assumed emoji just… Wouldn’t work. You’re a true scientist.
That is awesome! Small world, both with the same idea on the same platform. Previous homeowner left a pink rotary phone downstairs, thing is worth some serious cash in working condition. I thought about getting one of those base stations that turn your cell into a landline and hooking it up, for the full experience you know?
I wasn’t even aware of that mod chip, definitely worth it. I’ve had this goofy idea for a while now to set up a corner in my basement with an 80s theme. You know, vintage flooring, lamps, blankets, one of those old futons, and a CRT with my classic consoles. Having something like that down there would be a nice modern convenience without sacrificing the aesthetic.
Me and all the homies LOVE color harvesting sci-fi tropes.
That episode of the Powerpuff Girls with the mime draining the color from the city? YES please.
Bunnicula sucking the red out of a tomato? Sick.
Fingers crossed, maybe I’ll make my first post here documenting their story and where they’ve been. The ps1 specifically though is one of those boxy ones with the big side vents, and it was sticking up out of the box caught right in a draft. I’ll be really surprised if I can get that one up and running, I can see the amount of dirt and moisture that settled in that vent.
Sorry for your loss, I feel your pain. I recently discovered that my ps1, Atari 2600, and most importantly, my VideoNow were put in outside storage and not indoors. They’ve been exposed to the elements for literal years. Have yet to test them but things weren’t looking good.
You are technically correct, the best kind of correct.

5·4 days agoThis. Don’t forget about the evil that is HR. I was making good money with a nice career path in that field, but I had to quit because I couldn’t handle how they made me treat people. All my coworkers? Absolute robots. They hid behind the “I’m just doing my job” excuse and couldn’t identify right or wrong, just passed the orders down without sympathy. We had one guy that they couldn’t control with strong connections so they couldn’t fire him, and he really fought for his employees. They verbally tore him apart every day until he couldn’t handle it anymore.
That’s a good one. In school they had me memorize a novel of Latin root words, which is where things can get frustrating. You take a word and piece together the meaning, only to find out the definition has changed so drastically over the years that the root words are now nonsense. Both of our examples fit this description.
This is real and actually quite interesting to look at the history of. For example, the word “Decimate” IIRC was originally defined as killing one for every ten people of a group of people. Now, its used as a term for high impact destruction.
I thought cubers were crazy before I held a GAN cube. That is 100% a GAN or at the least one of those knock off GAN (that are still way better than a regular rubix).

6·12 days agoI think I’ve tried this one before.
This. Recently I took a deep dive into the controversies from both sides. It is a little difficult to piece things together because most of Linus’ more detailed replies came from old WAN shows, but I can say with certainty now that it’s incompetence and miscommunication.
If anything, my opinion on Linus stayed about the same and my opinion on GN went way down. After a certain point I couldn’t help but feel that either Steve just really hates Linus, or he was trying to drag his reputation enough for GN to snatch a larger piece of the tech YouTube pie. Neither are a good look.

12·27 days agoThis is my biggest issue with One Piece, or any form of extended media like this. It’s not that I won’t like it, but how much unique media am I giving up to watch it? It’s the same vibe I got when I was really into an MMO. Love the game, one of my favorites of all time even. But I’m much happier broadening my horizons and playing a unique experience every month or so opposed to the same game for a year straight.

David Harbour was there, I like him. Thank you for attending my TED talk.
