Midwest USA, September 2025.

Oly E-M1 @ 300mm, f/6.7, 1/1250s, ISO-500. Edited in darktable.

All of these photos are from the same day. I took the camera and a kayak and went birding. I think I found four or five different herons paddling up and down the river. I snapped some cormorants, pied-billed grebes, belted kingfishers, geese, and painted turtles.

Thanks, but it’s still quite soft. I didn’t quite follow him fast enough and lost focus. I’m alright with it, but I’ll for sure be trying to get this shot right in the future. They’re quite close looking aren’t they? Like a lazy palette swap, ha. Great shot BTW!

“Quite Soft” - hah - for birds in flight, especially with my monster lens, your “Quite Soft” is more of an goal than an criticism for me. There again, I can rarely go faster than 1/1250s in the UK’s light, which doesn’t help.
