The Steam Summer Sale is on and there’s plenty of threads asking for great deals and hidden gems. So let’s jump on that bandwagon! Anybody spotted any good deals on adventure games in the Steam sale?
Here’s a few cheap and good experiences I spotted:
Broken Age: $3.74
Sam and Max Hit the Road: $2.09
Space Quest Collection: $6.59
Thimbleweed Park 😃 A great point and click adventure by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick. I love it a lot
Such a good game. I think I like it even more than Return to Monkey Island.
Yorkshire Gubbins is 50% off! https://store.steampowered.com/app/716650/Yorkshire_Gubbins/
Crackin’ bit o’ game, this’un, mek no mistake.
Obra Dinn. Can’t recommend highly enough
Has anyone played Roadwarden yet? I’m downloading the demo now, but it’s 33% off and relatively new (released in September '22).
Planning on playing it this month for the monthly adventure game club I organize. It looks really cool and I think it’s getting some sort of spinoff or game set in the same universe later this year
Update: I played Roadwarden for about 4 hours straight this morning, so yeah I think it’s going on my recommendations list. :)
Nice! Always good to see the Steam sale helping us find good games while it empties our wallets. 😉
Honestly can’t go wrong with anything in the WEG catalog: https://store.steampowered.com/developer/WadjetEyeGames
Yeap, I can definitely recommend Gemini Rue, The Blackwell Games, Technobabylon, and Unavowed. All of them are decent and hearken back to the good old days of point-and-click adventure games.
Some of the ones i have in my wishlist:
Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit
The Excavation of Hob’s Barrow
I haven’t played them yet, but they all have at least Very Positive reviews
Highly recommend the Case of the Golden Idol. Really incredible game.
yeah, that is one of the one i got. really looking forward to playing it
here a few weeks later to say that it is, indeed, an amazing game
Lucy Dreaming is fantastic. I played it on my stream last year with the developer.
I just got The Last Door yesterday, interesting story (at least in the first part) and it gets the creepy atmosphere just right, though the puzzles are pretty easy.
Also, Lair of the Clockwork God is awesome and everyone should play it.
Some recent ones I like that I haven’t seen mentioned yet are
NORCO
Thaumistry
The Nick Bounty trilogy
The Aching
Blood NovaAnd then some games that aren’t traditional adventure games but have some adventure game or Interactive Fiction elements:
Lake
Citizen Sleeper
Cartomancy AnthologyNorco is really cool
