I really want to believe you’re the real Margot. The idea of AAA-listers being early adopters to super nerdy, niche web platforms like Lemmy tickles me.

The dev behind sync is making a new sync for Lemmy. So that’s something to look forward to!

Sync worked flawlessly for me for over a decade. Would be more than happyy to pay for it again!

With friends at a pub. Most people had flaked and didn’t show up, just 1 couple. The drink was expensive and not very good. They had no food available despite it being a food festivals, and the.muaic was dreadful. Went to open RiF, and it didn’t work :(

i’ve used bacon reddit for five years. I stopped using I when I check old.reddit and saw the offline message that everyone would be greeted with. I refreshed the app and saw it for myself. And I saw it all from my desk, the same place I saw every single world even from the past decade.

I’m done. Fuck reddit, I hope Steve chokes on his IPO, because if he really cared Arron Shwartz would still be alive.

It’s been a hell of a ride for sure. Infinity was my choice, and they’re moving to a subscription model. I wish the dev the best of luck.

I don’t mind paying a sub to support, but spez really soured me on Reddit as a whole.

    Hello Lemmy!

Just curious. How much are these subscriptions? I can’t imagine they’re reasonably priced.

No idea. It all depends on how much costs they incur through API calls.

Apparently it would have cost the Apollo dev something like 20 million USD per year at the scale Apollo was operating.

    RIP.

Relay is transitioning to a subscription model, but this whole thing has rubbed me the wrong way so I won’t be using it.

I wonder if the sub will include NSFW, but I doubt it. Imagine being rate limited browsing Reddit and no NSFW posts.

It won’t, it’s not possible to access sexually explicit NSFW posts through the API. The dev has confirmed it.

Yeah I debated HARD on that one of for no reason other than to give dbrady money for his dedication to the community.

But ultimately, I don’t want to give Reddit my money, and that is the unfortunate side effect to giving him money for the app

I want to wait and see how much the subscription is. I can easily add another $5 or less to my list of monthly subs. Any more than that, and I might have to call it a day.

I’m in a lot of niche but active communities on Reddit. Lemmy just isn’t there yet for me.
