I guess this is supposed to be funny but it reads as sad and abusive to me.
Does the last panel of the child shaking in fear of their parent really give off “this is a humorous comic” vibe?
Yeah, I took this to be a fairly serious comic. Parents do shit like this to their kids. The author just heightened the extremity of the situation to show how bad and harmful it is.
I do think this could have used a CW or something though. I’m feeling a bit of good ol’ activation after reading it. Got that fun little ick vibe in my stomach and my arms are buzzing a bit.
I’m sorry for that, I do apologize.
It’s okay. I get activated by shit all the time, so I’m used to soothing and chilling out.
I want to punch a comic. That’s a healthy response, right?
You’re telling me you don’t find it hilarious to emotionally abuse your child, wield a deadly weapon inches from them and then go to sleep soundly without a care in the world?
BART DO YOU WANNA SEE MY NEW CHAINSAW AND HOCKEY MASK
Hey is that the guy with the funny accent who screams at iPods?
Yep!
Lmao no idea
If I recall correctly, they’re both supposed to be adults, but out of context I can definitely see your read on it having a parent-child dynamic. In which case I agree, that would not be funny at all.
the strip is from The Creeps by Jean Floch, a now defunct webcomic
now defunct
Glad to hear it
The Creeps by Jean Floch
Thank you, I couldn’t for the life of me remember how this comic was called or who made it, and searching for it yielded no results. It used to be on GoComics but not anymore.
So, kevlar blankets?
The children yearn for constant gaslighting and terrorism?
Kevlar is shit for knives. You really want a chain mail blanket here.
Is that a Magnus Archives reference
It does work against insects and similar critters, though.
