I love this community here! So many creatives. I am into Leathercraft right now and I’ll be posting some of my items soon. I also created a more specific community over on Lemmy.ca If you are a Leathercrafter check out: https://lemmy.ca/c/leathercraft
Just subscribed, looking forward to seeing everyone’s projects
I just started leathercrafting! Working on my first wallet this week, but I forgot to get an edge beveler. So it is delayed for a bit before finishing. First project ever though.
I’m excited to see a leather working community start up here on Lemmy.
Woohoo! Welcome. I am fairly new to it but it’s amazing!!! You’ll be hooked in no time. I hope we can’t get a community going here.
I tired to join, but wasn’t able to. I am on mobile so maybe something is going on there? Saved this to try again later.
Oh? Not sure. Let me see if I can find something about the server being overloaded
Really excited for when we grow large enough to support all the smaller communities but for now I hope you still post your leather crafting here too. We’re only getting a couple posts a day in our general creative and I’m worried splicing the community up too much too early will end up with empty posts where people aren’t getting the engagement they’re looking for. While I don’t personally do any leather crafting I know I would love to see posts on it and I’m sure I’m not alone. Posting in our general creative sub might catch more people like me who really enjoy seeing your projects and will interact with them but might feel like posers(?) Joining a leather working specific community.
Sure can do. I came over from Reddit and just accidentally got on this sub after a lot of searching. Leathercraft was a Reddit sub so anybody coming over will search for that first. I have no problem to encourage people to cross post here but I think them finding this one might be taking a long time. Also the sub was very detailed into technique and tools and I am not sure if that’s what creative wants. This seems more a show and tell (amazing!) not so much a detail “how to” and “where do I get” community.
If the r/leatherwork community is moving than that’s a bit different but if it’s only a handful of you, you guys might get lonely so just remember c/Creative wants to see your work and hear any tips you have too!
