I was born in Central America and growing up eating pupusas (which are amazing) we used to have bean, cheese and pork. Any time I would ask “why can’t pupusas have chicken or fish?” The answer would be “cause that’s not traditional”.
Now the new generation makes them with fish, shrimp, chicken, veggies, etc. And it’s so yummy.
Keep your traditions and classic recipes, but don’t try to stifle my culinary creativity cause of your stupid hangups
