Ag-gag laws are laws that make it illegal in various ways to investigate, film, etc. what goes on in the meat industry. A number of them in the US have been struck down by the courts due to violating the US Constitution though some states keep trying to pass new ones over and over again. They exist or have existed in other countries as well such as parts of Canada, Australia, etc.

Mass produced food in general really. Upton Sinclair wrote a book about it, The Jungle. Deals with how awful the conditions were both for the workers (largely immigrants) and the end result product. Book was published in 1906. Largely responsible for the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act. But some of the same things still going on.

Animal ag on it’s own without those things (bad work conditions and bad end product) is still fucked up though, so with them it’s like 2x fucked up
