A federal judge ruled Tuesday in a lawsuit against the City of Austin for its short-term rental (STR) ordinance, which a Houston couple said unfairly prevented them from listing their Austin proper…
Thoughts? I sure would hate if I lived next to one, luckily not many people would want to stay in southeast Austin.
I really hate it. It’s a really obscure rule more about interstate commerce being used to say that people in Houston MUST be allowed to buy up property they aren’t living at in a city they dont live in and use for STR.
It’s just another profits over people and government being used to keep cities fromanaging themselves the way they want. While it makes sense to protect business, housing seems like an overreach to me.
Places all over the world can restrict Stars, but not here. I wonder if we can tax the shit out of it to make it unprofitable unless you apply for an exemption you can do if you live there for 6 months, but that’s probably discrimination too.
