Was his name Ea? His name isn’t known today for being engraved in copper…
I thought that story was gonna end with gramma waving her cane and yelling “She only takes high octane, you little punk! I raised your momma better than this!”
Can’t have billionaires and eat them too. Gotta choose one or the other.
While silent kindness is the most altruistic, there is such thing as taking it too far.
I used to maintain the strictest secrecy about all my good deeds. I thought acting like a shit person in public would be a nice disguise. Until I convinced everyone that I truly was a shit person, with no redeeming qualities.
Then I had less and less opportunities to do secret good deeds, as people regarded me with distrust and suspicion. Eventually even kindness was received as a sleight. I had to withdraw, and now I can only do nice things when I can cover my tracks so thoroughly that no one will ever know where it even came from.
I’ve gotten myself into a good bit of trouble sneaking around trying to find opportunities to do nice things. Don’t be afraid to be seen being kind.
Corrosion-resistent is not the same as non-corrosive.
I suppose gold as a noble metal would be stable over a long period, as it’s non-reactive. But certain kinds of acids can still dissolve it, unlike ceramic
Clay tablets have been demonstrated to last much longer than paper or metal

I thought it was the same incident until I saw that this victim was Colombian. I think the last one was Guatemalan, but I swear it was less than a week ago…
Committing murder makes them so hard.
Literally, check his belt…
Are they having a post-murder cuddle?

Maybe binary or ternary except the bits are determined by tonality, with modulation to express emotion. And maybe little extendible arms that can fix space ships and hack battle stations and zap enemies and

News@lemmy.world•Trump fires all commissioners of federal election agency
1·2 days agoOh, I get it now. The adjective was a noun and the preposition was a verb. And I’m supposedly illiterate for not getting that?
Also, when did I say anything about AIPAC being leftist? Sounds like an assumption you’re making.

1·2 days agoNo, but I’m not sure how literacy would help me understand a sentence that uses a noun as a verb.
Also, what does a superpac have to do with demagoguery? Superpacs are kind of the elite that demagogues tend to rile the masses against, no? How does a demagogue fit with the superpac? (Other than the obvious part where the demagogue lies to the masses while taking money from superpacs)?
Not sure why you’re comparing this to political illiteracy since the meme was quite incomprehensible to begin with…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When someone close to you likes a deceased celebrity who you know has some controversy/allegations, do you tell them about it or let sleeping dogs lie?
3·3 days agoHe may have simply been in shock, it’s not unusual for someone to be in denial at first when they learn something like this about someone they looked up to.
It may even be healthy to be initially skeptical, makes you less easy to manipulate with slander.
Sooner or later you have to face the facts, at least when they’re proven and well-established, but it can take time to process that information
